Hi All,

I got my biometrics appointment for 06/29 (DV-2012 AOS) in Phoenix AZ and I will be out of town :(

My options are:

- Try a walk-in appointment - did that today and was told the Phoenix office does not do it anymore.

- Schedule an info-pass meeting for before I leave town and hope they will be able to do it sooner (not sure its possible)

- Miss my appointment and get there Wednesday (a week and a half later) - it seems that in this case, they allow walk-ins

- Reschedule the whole thing and risk missing my GC (not an option I am considering)

- Cancel my trip :( (am considering this)

Anyone has experience with this at the Phoenix AZ office?

Thanks!

Do NOT skip your appointment and do a walk-in later. That is the absolute worst thing you can do as it will demonstrate that you've abandoned your AOS application. You should do one of two things:

- Reschedule your trip.

- At the bottom of the notice follow the instructions to ask for a new appointment. They generally issue a new appointment within a one month time frame from your current appointment.

Thank you for the fast reply!

The guard at the immigration office entrance said that I should be perfectly fine with being a couple of weeks late - he said that the request is not abandoned that quickly.

Do you have experience at the Phoenix office?

Should I try and infopass appointment and try to do it earlier?

The person you spoke to is wrong. People get denials logged online the VERY NEXT DAY. Happened to at least 2 people who actually rescheduled the day before due to illness and then got their denial letters in the mail a week later dated the day after their appointment. Because they rescheduled they were fine and the denial was in error but just to point out it happens.

If you aren't allowed a walk-in you'll have to reschedule.

The guard you spoke with provided misinformation. You CANNOT miss your biometrics appointment -- early walk-ins are fine. If you show up late (days or weeks) your case will be denied due to you abandoning your application by not showing up to your biometrics appointment. You should change your travel plans or reschedule your biometrics appointment. Alternatively, you can bring your travel itinerary with you when you attempt to do a walk-in, with proof in hand, they may accept you early.

Does anyone have any recent experience with the Phoenix office in this matter?
