I guess some on here would want him to break his oath of office. I, on the other hand, appreciate a person who upholds their sworn oaths. Just sayin, you know?

How many European's are are illegally crossing our southern border vs the number of hispanics.

Good question. Does anybody really know for a fact how many illegals actually cross and get away with it? Aren't most of those numbers just guesses? I would guess that most Europeans attempting illegal entry do it across the northern border where they could blend in so easily.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

You are the one using the word 'racist'! And it proves nothing regarding racism that you have had mexican and filipino partners. I hope you are not racist. The main point I was trying to make was that this arrest seems to have been gratuitous. It accomplished little in the battle against illegal immigration (which I support) but may have been unnecessarily traumatic to a child that did not have the responsibility for being where he was when this happened. The intensity of support for this obviously racist sheriff does surprise me! I suppose some of the support comes from non-racists who just like to see sheriff joe's macho chest thumping behaviors!

you didn't use the actual word racist. but thats what you were implying. was the arrest the 'best' way to handle it? probably not, but that is how it was handled. does your continued display of frivolity (*BIG WORD ALERT* look it up if you're not sure what it means) add anything to the discussion or change anything that happened. no.

You are correct. Some here expect him to overstep the jurisdiction of the office for which he was elected and take up the role of immigration vigilante, thereby disregarding the X Amendment of the very Constitution he affirmed to uphold.

Perhaps Mr. Arpaio needs a crash course in Constitutional law...

You seem to be missing my point. Let me try to be a bit more explicit. How would you like it if you were stopped on the street when you were fairly certain you had broken no laws. Identification was demanded and you had none with you proving your legal residence here. As a result your sorry a$$ gets to spend the night or more locked up, even though you are one of those 'native-born' american citizens. Is it or should it be relevant that you share external racial features with a group of people sometimes found to be here illegally? Is it OK for citizens of one of those demographics to be treated differently than those of us that are blond and blue-eyed?

Why not go to Alabama and ask a Mercedes exec?

While in Alabama, you might want to ask the governor why his office intervened in this case to get the executive released swiftly w/o charges?

A lot of the Europeans that here illegally simply fly in, breeze through Immigration and then never leave. They don't have to track through a desert to get here. They have a more comfortable route available. The overwhelming majority of Europeans does tend to visit only, however. Which is why the few that want to live here illegally have the option to enter through a regular POE. And even file for adjustment of status and become lawful residents and eventually citizens down the road if they so wish.

uh, he's protecting the nation from foreign enemies. Just like he swore to do.

Except that his office does not give him authority over immigration matters. His amateur vigilantism shows he need to learn a thing or two about the very Constitution he affirmed to protect.

Ironically, the Constitution - the one he affirmed to support - denies him any powers over immigration matters.

Really? Where does it say that only a federal officer can enforce immigration laws?

Also the last time I checked, he hands these people over to ICE.

My point (I thought it was clear) is that certain countries tend to commit visa fraud more than others. There's a reason some countries are allowed on the VWP, and others are not. Does that make it a racist policy? Isn't that some sort of racial profiling? Why is Canada (sort of) on VWP, but Mexico is not? They're both NAFTA countries.

Since these policies are nation based rather than race based they would properly be called nationalistic rather than racist. It is discrimination but not racial profiling. Since it is not race based it is OK. Discrimination is everywhere. My state discriminates in its granting of professional licenses. It only allows them to go to those who have completed approved educational programs and passed the tests. Liquor stores discriminate. They are supposed to not sell to minors. Medicare discriminates. It only covers those over 65 (with a few exceptions).

I'm tired of hearing about all this ####### of letting illegals off the hook. If I had my druthers about it they would get a one way ride to a rock in the middle of the ocean and let the press run with the story so that word gets back to the rest of them that are considering illegally entering our country. I have no compassion whatsoever for illegals and their supporters.

I appreciate the clarity of your statement, the willingness to say what you think. I don't agree with some of what you say but you don't try to hide what you think. No dissembling!
