do you think she got frisked, cuffed, & stuffed in a car? maybe roughed up a little by the big bad sheriff & his men? i'm imagining a much softer arrest that you're imagining. they are police & they were conducting human trafficing bust. she was at the site...they pretty much had to arrest her to include her in the ice transfer. now you can blame the sheriff for using the resources avalible to him to ensure the safety of the child. or you can blame the childs parents for putting their daughter in that sitsuation...your choice.

eta: oh yah. what was accomplished? there is a little girl who is safe, eating, has a place to sleep, and has a roof over her head.

So you still believe that the ONLY way to provide a safe environment for this child was with an arrest? And do you think that is why it was done that way? Or are you dissembling here? (yeah, I know it's a big word but you're a big boy, you can look it up and see if it fits!)

Are you saying that American law enforcement officials shouldn't uphold the laws of the United States of America?

I'm a guessing Evylin isn't saying that. Mr. O, OTOH, certainly is.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

James has officially had his RUB card revoked.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Really? In your world you prove your manhood by arresting 6 y/o children or cheering for those who do?

Your RUB wife came to you without kids. If she did have children you might have discovered how important it usually is to RUB women that children are treated well. A man stands up for women and children against those who would act like bullies. NOT cheer for the bully!! :bonk:

The only way that kid has a chance of being reunited with it's parents is to go down in the books as being arrested. Don't just go by the headlines of an article, read between the lines.

You are the one using the word 'racist'! And it proves nothing regarding racism that you have had mexican and filipino partners. I hope you are not racist. The main point I was trying to make was that this arrest seems to have been gratuitous. It accomplished little in the battle against illegal immigration (which I support) but may have been unnecessarily traumatic to a child that did not have the responsibility for being where he was when this happened. The intensity of support for this obviously racist sheriff does surprise me! I suppose some of the support comes from non-racists who just like to see sheriff joe's macho chest thumping behaviors!

You know that for a fact? Or are you just making it up as you go? As others have pointed out here jails don't have family units!

The parents are going to be deported. Now would you have the kid get deported with it's parents or stay in the US raised in a detention center? If the kid doesn't get arrested then it's a detention center and the chances of this kid ever seeing it's parents again are about zero to none. If the kid gets arrested then it gets deported with it's parents.

As a rule I go with Sherrif Joe being an azzhat. But if he busts a group of illegals I don't see how he avoids detaining the children with the adults.

Seems we have a silly controversy here.

Stop with that whiny racist #######. This is the laws of the United States of America we are talking about, and nobody should be above the law, especially illegals. Shame on the both of you. In fact if i had my way the both of you would be deported to banana land. How many European's are are illegally crossing our southern border vs the number of hispanics.

Funny coming from the guy who blames everything on "drunk" Native Americans, illegals from Mexico, affirmative action, the Islamic religion, and the socialists. Did I miss anyone?

Nope, I agree with you completely. The OP's subject, though, was not the poor choices made by the parents but the choices made by sheriff joe! I would still like to see where it is mandated that the children must all get arrested along with the parent or they will, as Kip alleges, be forever separated from their parents. Doesn't make any sense though that doesn't rule out that it could be true. I find it more than a little hard to believe.
