Can the beneficiary call the NVC to see if the case is received?

As thread title.

With the automated system gone, can the beneficiary ring the NVC and ask if the case has been received / assigned an embassy number? Or is it still, as the case was with the USCIS, only the petitioner that can ring?

Thanks

Sure you can call them, just make sure you have information on you, like your receipt number, DOB and stuff... You will be on hold for a long time, but they will answer at some point. Good luck.

Thanks muchly. I wasn't sure if they would actually release the information to the beneficiary since the USCIS wouldn't during the petition process.

I shall start making phone calls.

I call every day and they're always happy to talk to me. And I to them. No problem what so ever.

The USCIS handles petitions only. A petition is filed by the petitioner only. Thus, technically the petition is "none of your business."

At the NVC stage, you're no longer dealing with a petition, but a visa application in which you're the actual applicant. Thus, it becomes your business.

when are you gonna start calling, mark? since we got approved on the same day it will definitely be interesting to see whether we end with our visas in hand at the same time! not that it's a competition ;) in any case you are probably waaaaaay more organised than me (not hard!).

Any luck with the calls Photomile?! I haven't seen any positive movement for people around our NoA2 in the NVC department. I'm trying to be patient for at least the remainder of this week, and then start the phone calling.

Hahaha. This reminds me of a friendly competition we had with another UK couple who filed the I-129F the same day we did. It was an Oxford vs Cambridge race. We'd exchange a brief comment every step of the way over 4 years. They were always faster and won every leg of the race. In the end, Cambridge won but our US citizenship was only about 3 weeks apart. Pretty darn close considering all the variables!

Good luck to both of you.

Give it a week before calling. Then, put NVC's number on speed dial. It's currently officially taking 15 business days from NOA2 to NVC received. This is for CSC petitions, slightly shorter for VSC petitions. CSC is slow sending them out.

Today is my 14th business day and I plan on calling twice today :)

NVC recieved my case from VSC exactly two weeks after it was approved.

Case # was assigned same day. Case left for the consulate the next day too!

I'd start calling today and check the status.

You'll need:

Petitioners name and DOB

Benefiary's name and DOB

USCIS Case #

And they'll ask you who is calling.

Good luck!

While VSC might be on a current slow trend in approving petitions, it seems like they're getting the petitions out to the NVC fairly quickly and efficiently. CSC seems to be delayed in mailing out the petitions. I'm very anxious to see if the "15 business days" holds true. I'll find out tomorrow.

I'll let you know. There were so many approved last week that I think a batch would have gone to the NVC fairly quickly!

Ze Race, Is Le On.

I've been looking back through K-1 applications that have received NoA2s It looks like there are a considerable amount of people who are still waiting from mid-may to have their petitions either a) delivered to NVC or b) released from NVC. So there are one of two options here. There is an intense amount of people waiting to hear from NVC or people have stopped updating their timelines. If it's the latter, I'm none too impressed.
