Guys need help! Can't find ANY job :-(

I live in Iowa and there are a LOT of places looking for help...including where I work. You may only get paid minimum wage, but the cost of living here is a lot lower than it is in California. There are options, you just have to work hard to find them. Don't look for excuses...look for results. I wish you luck!

Your topic suggests that you litterally can't find ANY job. You're being darn selective if you want to have 16 dollars to move stuff. My USC husband has 20 years of US work experience and only now he's up to 16 dollars an hour.

You're trying to accomplish something we all are; finding a decent paying job. I enjoy my job even though I make 1/4 of what I used to in my home country. Sometimes, it'll lead to better opportunities. One of my customers tried to recruit me to her business. I turned that down only because I want to have the same job for more than a few months. That is also a quality to put on a resume; reliability - my employer was happy to know I kept a job overseas for years. But I'd also like to prove that I can do the same now; living up to my foreign resume.

My point is that you can't afford to vent about jobs that are actually out there yet you refuse to apply to. Lowering your standards isn't the same as having to to it for always and ever. It's a matter of building up your resume with US experience. Imagine a 17 year old wanting 16 dollars to move heavy stuff but can't really put any references on a paper saying they're hard, loyal workers.

That would be illegal.

After reading what you've written here, I wouldn't hire you. You "should" get paid $16 for lifting boxes? Seriously? You don't believe in minimum wage jobs?

You have few skills and you're demanding better pay than most CNA's I know. Lots of people survive on minimum wage. They get subsidized housing, take the bus, and/or work two jobs.

No one owes you a job. You're not entitled to a job. The longer you're out of work, the less likely you are to find any. So if I were you, I'd take anything I could get, and once I had something, I'd try to find something better.

This is all about choices.

You want to take bus - take it.

You want work like a slave for 8$ - do it.

I know no one owes me a job.

I never said that.

I don't need babysitter. I asked you suggestions where can I find a job easy what state?

And you started talk about my behavior.

How this piece of ####### don't want to work for 8 bucks.

If you don't make PROFIT what a reason to work - that's SLAVERY.

YES YES YES - SLAVERY but instead of calling people slaves, they call them employees and paying them 8 bucks.

I am not mean every employer, some of them.

Why?

Because lifting boxes its at least 16$ because its physical job.

And sit on your @ss all day in the office 16$ too because you use brain.

8$ for Cashiers, dishwashers, cleaners

I am very thankful to those who gave me good advices about

North Dakota, Maryland state IOWA, I'll move to the east side then.

And I said a 1000 times that I would accept 8 dollars job if it was near my house so I don't have to waste 50 bucks on my gas to get there.

16 bucks for LA - nothing.

2 bedroom cost 1600$ a month.

People here different standards.

What for LA 16 bucks - for small city in the east its like 10-11 bucks.

Don't judge by digits only.

So trade your car for a scooter, 75 miles per gallon. I ride a scooter everyday, 10 miles a day. 2 stroke power! Unless.. LA has different standards regarding having the right car to ride also.

Look, I'm just trying to come up with alternatives that apply to your situation instead of being stuck in your current situation. One step forward is better than being stuck. I'm not judging by digits only. I'm judging based on how you're painting yourself into a corner with very few options even though there are alternatives. 2 bedrooms? Who is living with you?

Good luck on whichever path you choose.

Yeah that is expensive for a 2 bedroom...why not get a smaller place? Cost of living is so high out there so I understand. An option is to go where the cost of living isn't so high, such as where I live. You can get a decent 2 bedroom for about $700, I'm actually paying less than $600 for my 1 bedroom and it is very spacious. Not to mention there are jobs galore out here, so you would be doing very well if you are a hard worker. Keep trying and good luck!

I know no one owes me a job. You sure act like they owe you a $16/hr job.

I never said that.

And you started talk about my behavior. It stinks and I'm smelling it all the way over here.

How this piece of ####### don't want to work for 8 bucks. That seems to be a great synopsis of your persona.

If you don't make PROFIT what a reason to work - that's SLAVERY.There's something called breaking even while gaining more experience & keeping yourself busy.

YES YES YES - SLAVERY but instead of calling people slaves, they call them employees and paying them 8 bucks.

I am not mean every employer, some of them.

Why?Working $8/hr is not slavery, it's being a minimum wage worker, if you want higher rates go get the necessary qualifications for a better job.

Because lifting boxes its at least 16$ because its physical job.

And sit on your @ss all day in the office 16$ too because you use brain.Yes. That's why cooks gets paid less than chefs because they don't use their brains as much (eg making up recipes/planning menus). Cooks just like box lifters only follow the instructions of the higher ups.

North Dakota, Maryland state IOWA, I'll move to the east side then. No, no, no. Stay on the West coast. The east doesn't need possible employees with your type of unsavoury attitude.

My responses are in bold.

You have so many ways to save money: get a 1 bedroom or trade in your car for a scooter/moped/bus pass/car pooling and shopping smarter. All that with 8 bucks an hour is very doable.
