All you have to do is show up. You will be given an intial 21day visa. After that period of time has ended you have 2 choices. Either to renew the visa or just pay the fine on the way out at the airport. It's only roughly $75 or 3000php.

Sorry for not including this earlier. But it's all in what you want to do and where you go. For me it is alot easier just to pay the fine than to actually find someone who can renew the visa for me. Plus I would probably have to pay the same amount anyway maybe more. This is due to because I go to Mindanao up into the mountains of COMVal. So yes it takes awhile for me to go to Davao.

Is that $75.00 fine up to 59 days? Were do i pay the fine at in the airport? Everytime i have been there it has been less than 21 days. I dont remember ever being given a visa for 21 days.

At the airport you get an instant 21 day stamp, you can get a visa extension supposedly at the airport,or the immigration office in Manila. I paid and got a visa extension which can be up to 90 days more if needed. Its just a bit of a pain to get, you spend the whole day at the office trying to sort it out.

If you are going to over stay a few days, i wouldnt worry about it. I overstayed a couple days and on my exit they didnt seem to care.

Will i be guaranteed to get one, if i do it there?

Yes. Just bring Php 3,200 and your passport fill out the form, wait about two hours and get your passport back ... done.

At the airport tell the custom agent you would like to get the extended visa, on my first trip I did that and they took me to an office on the left side of the customs windows where they processed my extended visa but it took awhile there also so the second trip I opted to go to the Immigrations office.

A visa is just a stamp in your passport with a date notated.

I wouldn't let my 21 day visa expire and pay the fine instead for overstaying in the Philippines By doing this, you subject your self to the whim of the immigration at the airport on your exit. THERE'S A POSSIBILITY OF you being barred entry forever or for a period of time. Do what most visitors do and obtain the proper Visa.

Believe me, I've seen visitors denied re-entry for doing this. I've even seen visitors denied entry for being rude at the airport!

I have plan tickets for October 19th through November 15th. Do i need a pass in order to stay that long? If so, how do i go about getting one?

I'm sorry, I'm not following. Is the visa for you or your husband?

Filipino citizens do not need a visa. Spouses and children of Filipinos are considered Balikbayan. Balikbayans may use their privilege of staying up to a year in the Philippines. Also, this visa is free.

Hope this helps.

Marc...Good point.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the U.S. citizen must be accompanied by their Filipino spouse in order for the U.S. citizen to use the balikbayan privilege.

Paramedic(918)...Are you the U.S. citizen? Are you the one going to the Philippines? Will your Filipino spouse be traveling with you?

You're correct, Tahoma!

Some of the details were lacking. If the plane tickets were for her, her husband or both of them. The Filipino citizen doesn't require a visa, the U.S. citizen (if travelling alone) can stay up to 21 days without a visa. However, if they're travelling together, the Filipino citizen can invoke the Balikbayan privilege, which extends to his/her spouse and children.

Thanks for the correction, Tahoma!
