I posted this under K-1 forum, and no one even read...hoping posting under Philippines will get some attention:

My Filipina fiancee (K1) and her daughter (K2) received their visas this week (YAY!). In the "Annotation" field of the K2 visa, it states "Med Class: B2" (BOOO!).

From what I can see online, "Med Class: B2" means that her medical exam concluded that she has Latent Tuberculosis Infection (LTBI), and from what I can see on the CDC policy this means that she is able to be admitted into the US but must undergo a "LTBI Evaluation".

As a quick background for the daughter (2-3 yr old) at her medical exam at St Lukes in Manila...she tested positive on the skin test but appeared to test negative on the xray(I'm assuming...since they did not require sputum test).

We will be entering Guam as their POE into the US late July.

Does anyone have experience or relevant info available that will help give insight as to what we can expect at the POE; and after arriving in the US, what we can expect for the "LTBI evaluation"?

We will be located in Orlando, FL. I cannot seem to find good local information on any LTBI evaluation programs.

I'm assuming, based on other programs I could find online, that she will be required to take the 9 month treatment; I'm also assuming that after treatment that they will do another xray and possibly sputum.

Any insight into "Med Class: B2" is appreciated! And if she does have to take medication, any insight into the "best" treatment (medicine) to request is appreciated. Thanks.

Don't know squat about the Med Classw: B2 , I wonder if you will be required to use a Civil Surgeon or if you can use your own doctor.

I have read mixed information about Guam being the POE, never the less the process is fairly simple; identify that you are K-1 visa to the first CO/BP that you see and if they do that at only certain windows (like in Honolulu) they will direct you there. At that point they will take the "do not open" envelope and tear it open, review the contents then ask a few questions and do biometrics one more time. After that they will annotate the I-94 and staple it in the passport and you are done, go grab your bags to go through customs then get them checked back in for the remainder of your flight.

Hi Chris,

my daughter got a false positive on TST in St. Lukes during the medical but turns out to be negative when she has her x-ray. When we had our POE in Detroit last May, there was an officer (aside from the IO) who talked to us in a separate area and handed a paper telling us to call the health department in our state. The paper has the name of my daughter and that number. So eventually we called, then they schedule us for an appointment, my daughter needs to have an x-ray again here. Its free of cost. I hope this helps.

Brian & Shella, was your daughter's visa annotated with "Med Class: B2"?

And when you entered at the POE, were you all allowed to use the same officer (meaning, did the US citizen and the visa holder and beneficiary (K2?) enter at the same time? You stated "officer...who talk to us in a separate area...", I'm curious if my fiancee and her daughter will have to enter alone and I would have to enter in US citizens line.

THANKS!

My wife had the same thing when she arrived, (fiancee at the time). Basically, when she arrived immigrations gave her a letter saying she would need to go to public health. Public health called and set up an appointment and they had her do the skin test again, X-rays and she had to do the sputum test again over several months. When we did the AOS interview we just took all the paperwork from public health clearing her again. But if it eases your mind I guess you can have a civil surgeon transfer the information. We just choose not to and had no problem.
