Pay Stubs for I-864 in AOS Packet

According to this additional materials packet example:

It says:

"o Pay stub(s) from the most recent six months for ##### (optional)"

However, I just looked through the I-864 instructions and it doesn't require to do so.

Do we need to? Has anyone had the problem where they've received an RFE for pay stubs?

I have all 3 of my past Tax forms and a letter from my employer.

Do I need to add pay stubs?

The simplest way fora wage/salary earner to prove current income is to include recent paystubs and an employer letter.

Past years' tax returns do not confirm current income.

Why risk an RFE when you can send copies of paystubs initially?

No you are not "required" to, which is why it says "(optional)". It's listed as an "optional" inclusion in the I-864 instructions.
