Will my husband get our origianl documents such as birth certificates nd marriage certificate back when he goes for interview?

My husband received everything back except for my copy of our marriage certificate, at least we still have his...I contacted the embassy and was told they had to keep it but it was in the visa package they delivered, and he was to ask the IO for it back upon his entry to the states. I think he forgot to do that because he came without it, at least he's here though!!!
