WASHINGTON (CNN) -- A poll conducted for CNN over the weekend suggests support among Americans for the war in Iraq is dwindling to an all-time low. Just 34 percent of those polled say they support the war, while 64 percent say they oppose it.

Women led the opposition, with seven in 10 saying they oppose the war. Twenty-eight percent say they support it, which is the lowest support among women in any CNN poll taken since the invasion more than three years ago.

Support among men is stronger, with 40 percent supporting the conflict and 58 percent opposed to it.

This comes as the nation's top general acknowledged the overall strategy in Iraq is under review. Gen. Peter Pace, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told CNN that military plans, including the linchpin of U.S. exit strategy -- reliance on Iraqi forces to take up the fight -- is being reviewed. (Full story)

Troop withdrawal is a key condition for ending the insurgency, according to one of Iraq's most visible insurgent groups. A man believed to be the spokesman for the Islamic Army of Iraq issued a videotaped message Sunday reiterating interest in negotiating with U.S. forces. (Full story)

However, President George W. Bush personally assured the Iraqi prime minister Monday that he has no plans to pull U.S. troops out and that there is no U.S. timeline for Iraqi forces to take over. (Full story)

Thirty-four percent of those polled approve of how Bush is handling the war, with 64 percent disapproving.

The telephone poll of 1,012 adult Americans was conducted by Opinion Research Corporation Friday through Sunday.

Its sampling error was plus-or-minus 3 percentage points

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

I took my own poll and 100% of respondents, ME, think that Americans are idiots!!!

The war is won. It's a criminal insurgency that Iraq's military and police are gonna have to deal with but we can't just get up and say 'see ya Iraq! We had fun!'

I have Marine buddies over there! And if we leave to soon, all the men and women who died will have died for NOTHING!!

You don't win by listening to polls! I guarentee most of the people in the poll couldn't even point to Iraq on a map!!!

Well, it's not just the American public, but many military leaders, including Colin Powell. Nobody's died for nothing...it's always something.

My finace did a tour od duty in Iraq as well as several other (ex-) soldiers I know.

I never liked the idea of american soldiers being in Iraq,I personally think that the public has been mislead about the reasons for invading Iraq a second time. And in my opinion they shold have never sent Groundtroops in to begin with.I wont say here what they should have done, but ask any Military (or in my case ex Military) Spouse and they'll answer you that question.

I do not support Bush on the war in Iraq but I DO support all the brave men and women that were given orders to go down there.God bless them all!!!!!!!!

As much as I hate those who sent our milatary over there I agree we HAVE to stick it out and try and get it to a point where it can be turned over to a stable government of Iraq design.

To leave it in chaos would do far greater harm than to stick it out. Of course I fully realize this comes from someone who does not have family there so I don't feel my voice should count as much.

Support our troops and hope for their safe return.

We should of not even been their in the first place. This is a big EGO booster to the Neocons.

It is all part of PNAC. Not cause of 911.. that is the Lie and what they wanted us to belive.

This war has nothing to do with Terioism. It is about gaining control over the middle east and control over the Oil, and to have a place to put more Militry bases.
