Not at all.

People will do what they will. However I have a problem with the government not enforcing its own laws and not using the same standards in passing laws as they are required to by their own law.

Obama told the American people today "laws don't matter. do whatever the ** you want." - What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

You do realize that calling 4th and 5th generation people "immigrants" is a bit dumb.

Sure, the land was taken by ancestors as was done for a long time.

HOWEVER, this is a sovereign nation now with laws and borders. It makes a difference and those laws are to be upheld.

I was drawing an analogy between the two events: The first event being a hypothetical situation of many millions of people calling themselves citizens -through no fault of our own, other than being born- being deported for not having entered legally.

(It was hypothetical- indeed I realize I should have explained it more thoroughly for such a pompous sort as yourself).

The second event: A few hundred thousand people here illegally through no fault of their own rather than being born and helpless to the actions of their parents.

My mistake. Add about 3 more zero's: 800,000 Still, it really doesn't change much, except less hassle from certain law enforcement, and they can be on the books as work authorized. So, maybe those that are employing them can no longer take advantage of their status. That means they have to compete with everybody else for the jobs illegal aliens can't get. Seems like that would level the playing field for those that claim illegal aliens are taking their jobs by working for less.

I copied this off another site called pursuingholiness.com, I thought this was an interesting scenario to compare against the executive order today!

If my father robbed a bank, should I be allowed to keep the money?

I read these sob stories about illegal alien children whose illegal alien parents brought them to this country illegally. And I'm not without sympathy. But are we a nation of laws, or not? If my father had robbed a bank, and supplemented our family budget with the proceeds for years so that I was raised enjoying a better lifestyle than my family could have afforded on its own… if my father died and I found that box full of illegal cash, would it legally, morally be mine to keep? Should I be permitted to continue benefiting from his lawbreaking?

It's not a question of when to stop but rather when to start. I would have had a lot more respect for the actions he took (whether or not I agree with them) if they were taken after he had secured the presidency (riding on those promises). No matter which side of this hot-button topic you are on, it'd be a little naive to think that the timing isn't suspect given that the elections are a mere four months away. Call me a skeptic, if ya will.

There parents are not by definition criminals, deportation is not capital punishment, and there are no illegal physical assets involved.

Its like comparing apples to monkey cats.
