Ezzie, when you filed for your son this year were you given a letter with a receipt number or case number on it? Starting with the letters NBC? If so have you been able to check the status online or does it say "not found, etc"?

Haven't received anything in the mail yet. :(

I wonder what the original poster found out and if he tried calling uscis again?

I haven't gotten through recently calling the USCIS hotline yet, due to the difficult time zone I'm calling from. I will let everyone know once I get through.

By the way, you can't even find the N-600/N-600K processing times listed on their web site here;

https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processingTimesDisplay.do

so I think their processing procedures/systems may still be messed up for now.

To the OP,

Did you try calling up USCIS again? Any new developments?

Last year, I filed the N600 for my then 17 year old son, and got the certificate 2 months after sending the application. I went with him during oath-taking, and he was one on one with the Immigration Officer. It was just the three of us in the big room in the local field office.

This year, I filed for my other son, sent it June 9, 2012, and noticed it had to be sent to Phoenix, AZ. Maybe why N600 processing is taking longer this time?

Yes, I filed to the Phoenix AZ LockBox late March this year and the NOA I received was dated April 3 from the National Benefits Center located in Lee's Summit, Missouri. May I ask what the case number started with on your elder son's notice, i.e., "NBC ...." or "WAC ....", etc.?

You can find the processing times of your field office for N-600 here (scroll down to the bottom of the page): https://egov.uscis.g...sDisplayInit.do

Our field office is Chicago, it says that processing time is 5 months for our field office to process N-600 applications. Our case took almost 4 months to be completed which was the same time that took my N400 btw. It's important keep in mind that each case is unique and different from others as well as it depends on the field office that is processing it.

Good luck everyone.

I can not access information online, but I got information about the processing time when calling and not bending down about an standard answer!

I received a letter on Friday from the local office that they need the original green card and some biometric information filled out on the letter. I mailed it back today to the field office. Let's see what will happen next.

Thanks Sib, hopefully that's means you are getting close. If you don't mind me asking, when did you file for the N600? I was just wondering how long you've been waiting. Also, when they send you the letter asking for the green card and wanting some biometric information, do you mean it was a request for evidence or do you mean they just wanted some basic information like height, etc? Thank you very much

By the way, you mentioned you could not check the n600 status online, did you call and check on it because it was taking a long time or was there a problem or something? Thanks again! .

Hi mari&ryan, yes I do see the the N-600 processing times (5 months) under the Field Offices button, but I filed to the Phoeniz AZ lockbox (filing from overseas abroad) my NOA said it was processed at the National Benefits Center in Lee's Summit, Missouri. I don't see any N-600/N-660K listed when I click the National Benefits Center button. My case number starts with "NBC .......". May I ask what your case number starts with,as that might help me understand better?

My eldest son never got a receipt notice

I sent the application on Aug 2, 2011. Exactly one month after mailing, I got an Infopass at our local field office. I was getting restless at that time, as we haven't gotten any NOA's, nor any receipt acknowledging that they are processing the petition. After driving 2 hrs, we were out in less than 5 minutes; we were told- "yes, we are indeed processing it, and we will give you a call'. That was it. They couldn't tell me anything else.

October 2011- An I.O. called me up, she identified herself, and she said that we didn't come on the supposed oath-taking!! ( supposedly, according to her, last week of Sept 2011).

I said we never got anything...as in anything. So she scheduled us around 3 days after.

So that's it. No NOA's, no NBC number.

looking back at my eldest son's file- I sent the N600 at the local field office, where I also got the infopass.

So now in 2012, all of us sent it to Phoenix, AZ. That means longer time, but hopefully not!.I mailed ours June 9, 2012. I haven't heard from them, nor received anything yet. Hopefully, this week.

To Mari&Ryan- did u guys send your file at your LFO? or also at Phoenix? Thanks!

Hi,

All N-600 applications are filed at Arizona lockbox first (I just checked USCIS site). It's my understanding that once there it's then routed to NBC for processing (wording on the first confirmation email). So NBC distribute them to their correspondent local offices to continue processing it (call an applicant to attend an interview, take the oath, or as in our case go to our local office to pick up the certificate on behalf of my child as well as give them her green card.) My NOA has NBC too as the place from it was sent to me. However, I always thought it would be processed in my field office, nobody told me that I just assumed it just for a logical reason. I filed from the US so I have a US address which has a field office where many cases are processed. Don't know how and where it's processed when you file from overseas whether you have an US address on your application. My case number start with NBCxxxxxxxx but like I said I went ahead and checked the processing times for my local office assuming it was being processed here not at NBC. It turned out I was correct. Is it possible that process for N-600K application is different than for N-600? perhaps but I don't know.

So do all N600s now get a receipt number that starts with NBC? Do they all get sent first to the national benefits center? Are all n600 applications untrackable online?

Hi,

Well I do not know if all receipt # start with NBC I would say that they do just because they are first received at National Benefits Center to be distributed to their correspondent local offices. I do not have any more other reference than my own process and other few cases that have been posted here in the past. I do not know if they were able to get online updates at some point of their process. I was not able to get updates nor did i call them to get info. I just waited to hear from them and I guess I was lucky enough to have had a very smooth and fast process. So, it was never a problem to me unlike other previous application that I went through. Again, I'm giving my response considering what the USCIS site stated regarding to this application and also looking at the Emails/notification/letters that I got from them along our whole N-600 process. Not many people in VJ seem to apply for N-600 or they just don't post they experiences in here so it's very difficult to be able to track other cases to have an idea how it works.

Thanks for your response. I was trying to track down when the process for filing the N600 changed ( back in August 2011, I sent my eldest son's N600 to our local field office ); until just now it occurred to me that there's a date below the application that says Oct 2011.

So now,- AZ, NBC then Local Field Office. Longer route, longer wait.
