aos from tourist visa

hi I have a friend who married his Asian girlfriend and he would like to know in the last few years he was on disability but now that he went back to work but since he didn't pay any taxes on his SSD he does not know what to do when filing his 865 form but he is making $18,000.00 now any help

Timeline

He should be able to write a letter explaining why he didn't file taxes. In his case, it will be because the only income he received was SSD which is non-taxable.

I think that should cover it, but to be on the safe side, I'd suggest he dig up any paperwork he has from his SSD claim/payments as proof.

8/07/2012 - EAD received.

8/09/2012 - Welcome letter and I-130 approval letter received.

8/10/2012 - Green card received. :)

If his SSD payments exceed the income guidelines, he doesn't need a co-sponsor.

It sounds like he was on SSD but no longer is & is now working and making 18K a year in which case he will need a cosponsor. Wording was a bit confusing though, OP - is he still getting disability and working?

11.08.2010 - Text/Email (3rd) - EAD approved

12.11.2010 - Interview letter received - 01.13.11
01.13.2011 - Interview - no decision on the spot
01.24.2011 - Approved! Card production ordered!
