I am out of ideas on how to expidite our AOS case and getting that allusive green card. :huh2:

I'll add you to our prayers that your green card comes soon :(

Did you see the thread on AOS transfers with the link to the backlog? California has almost 23,000 cases waiting and they are actually doing much less than is coming in each month. Those applying now are going to be well more than a year waiting at the current rates they're processing cases.

Try the USCIS ombudsman.

https://cisombvos.dhs.gov/vos/form7001.aspx

I tried them, and they did investigate my case, but by the time they got to it I already had my green card approved. They sent me a nice email stating that if I ever need anything else then to contact them.

Filed: AOS (pnd) Country: Guatemala
Timeline

Checking the USCIS.gov website this afternoon, I found that our case status was changed yesterday from "Initial Review" to "Card/Document Production." The site advises us that production of our card has been ordered, and that we should be receiving it within 30 days. I guess it did help to contact our congressman's office after all. Interesting to note that contrary to what the call center rep told me on the telephone, the case was not transferred to our local office and it appears that they're not requiring an interview; it was all decided at the California Service Center.

AOS

Receipt Date: 2011-9-26

Transfer Notice (CSC Office): 2011-11-22

Approved: * * STILL PENDING * *

Congrats. If you watch your status now it will change numerous times until you get your card. It won't be long now and it will be in your hands.

I'm sure it feels good to have it now! I scanned my wife's the day it came and printed it front and back in color. Then took the pieces and made a laminated copy for her to carry. We keep the original in a safe place and only take it out when we know its needed. For all others, a copy will do. Don't want to accidentally loose that darn thing. Too expensive and too long to replace.

I bet the replacement time is 2 years for a lost Green Card, haha.

Total elapsed time between filing I-129F to GC in hand 569 days or 1 Year, 6 months, 22 days.

That wouldn't surprise me with USCIS! I'll really be glad when my wife reaches the point she can get citizenship. Then we never have to deal with them again.

Is that at 3 years after approved GC? So, would it be 2 year conditional, ROC, then a year later Citizenship application? I feel like the government owns us all the sudden.

Yes it is. Which is part of why waiting so long for the green card is so frustrating. The longer they take to approve the green card, the longer it is until we can say goodbye for good to them.
