Im kind of disappointed right now, we had our interview schedule for jun/18th, paper work ready, my husband asked a day off as we have to travel 3 hours for the interview, today 3 days before weekend in between, we received a letter saying "This is to advise you that, due to unforeseen circumstances, we have canceled the previously scheduled interview on Monday, 06/18/2012 at 09:30am for the above applicant. We regret any inconvenience this may cause. You will be notified of any future action taken on this case including any rescheduled interview information, under seperate notice."

Does someone know why is this? We changed our address 2 weeks ago, could it be the reason?

I was reading other posts where they said they received their new appointment couple weeks after but still dont understand why appointments are canceled or if there is anything we can do.

I know, this is USCIS and they can do whatever they want and whenever they want but still is frustrating because we loose money for the days we take off. Im looking for job also, so I may be already working for the day they decide to schedule a new appointment and my husband will have to loose another day off as he cant just cancel the day he took for this week coz he works under schedule and they already planned the week without him on monday.

I dont know, any ideas, did anyone do anything that worked to keep their interview, does anyone have a clue about the reasons appointments get canceled, did anyone get aproved without interview?

Thanks all!!!

Some reasons are: the office (or individual officer) has a training session, the interviewer has a family emergency or personal health issue, building construction or maintenance. The normal things that change.

If you are scheduled for an interview, it is unlikely that an approval or denial will be issued without an interview.

You should attend the interview regardless. You might find that the local office wasn't advised on the change and you will still continue with your interview. This has happened more than once. Just as people have been denied for not attending the "first" interview, the denial was overturned but it added more stress where none was needed.

I'm sorry I think this is terrible advice. Most likely thing is that OP will be turned away as there is no longer any interview scheduled. Even in the doomsday situation you describe, OP has solid proof that the interview was cancelled.

If there's any doubt that the local office doesn't know about the cancellation, OP should feel free to call them. But I think it highly unlikely that there's an immigration officer somewhere that's going to be waiting on him on interview day.

I'm sorry but you don't know what you're talking about. This is an EXTREMELY common occurrence. It is quite well known that the left hand doesn't always know what the right hand is doing. The OP should still attend the interview, and as is typical, will probably proceed with interview. There have been the occasional people that have been turned away, but I would rather attend and be turned away, then not attend, get denied and go through the stress and hassle of getting it fixed (which is totally possible and it will be fine) when simply attending the interview would have stopped this from happening.

I suggest you do some searching for threads and you will find the percentages favour attending the "cancelled" interview.

This is an EXTREMELY common occurrence.
V. is exactly right about this, and there are innumerable threads about it.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
