Just e-filed this morning. You get instant feedback that it was received. There is still a bunch of docs that you have to send in as a separate submittal, but at least you dont have to wait around to see if they received/lost the original submittal.

RECOMMENDED when possible.

I finally got rid of the never ending money drain. I called the plumber, and got the problem fixed. I wish her the best.

Not a problem, the only reason most people send the "package" off to the lockbox is because it all is dependant on the AOS filing, so for most it's like baking a cake. Most of us don't want to take the chance that we'd "remember" that we put the vanilla somewhere else in the kitchen to be added at a later time. As competent (or imcompetent) as the USCIS is, most people feel that they wouldn't want to risk the Organizational skills of several departments on keeping their paperwork together. Sort of a Head knowing what the tail is doing sort of thing... Tell us how it all progresses for you.

All done for the next 10 years...

Thanks for the heads up. The AP is the one part of the process that concerns my fiance (he has an elderly mom), and therefore, has me kind of worried.

Fox, do you have a link where you did this?

OK ... now after several hours, there are 9 votes on the poll

3 AOS only

3 AOS and EAD

3 AOS/EAD/AP

My point here is this: It's fine to say what YOU did and your reasoning, but unless you have something to back it up -- don't make statement that "everyone does" or "most do" or "the preferred answer is". Those who are interested will add their personal experience too -- DON'T SPEAK FOR ME

So far in the poll "most" turns out to be 33% and at least 1 expressed regret for having applied for the AP.

On the USCIS home page, where they have the forms.....right next to it is E-filing.

I figure I saved at least 10 days in receiving a NOA for the filing.

I didnt file for AP when I submitted the AOS package, cuz the instructions said to submit the NOA for AOS or have one pending. So I just waited until I received the NOA for the I-485 filing.

I finally got rid of the never ending money drain. I called the plumber, and got the problem fixed. I wish her the best.

Yeah, Tracy, the instructions are clearly there on USCIS.

I think tsunamihart describes (quite colorfully) why you don't read of many on VJ doing the e-file though.

Therefore, I'm grateful for desertfox and his gutsy step and am anxious to see how it turns out for him - hopefully all good!
