A recession is when your neighbor loses his job. A depression is when you lose yours. And a recovery is when Barack Obama loses his job.

Baawaa I wish this joint had a like Button. How any sane person could defend Obama's record is beyond me. He was like GWB on steroids. Of course liberals always defend an attack on Obama by saying, "but what about Bush". well yeah he sucked also, why would that make me want to vote for Obama again cause Bush sucked.

It's funny the way Right Wingers measure the effectiveness of a president. To them, a successful president is one that doesn't do anything, or in other words, one who aspires to the idea that a government that is ineffective is the best government. Thank you, Ayn Randian Libertarian philosophy.

Based on the limitations of presidential powers, I think he's done an adequate job. There are some things decisions within his power that I don't agree with, but overall, his policies are in step with what he campaigned on.

So, Obama is like Twinkies®? Adequate, but far from fine dining?

How about

Cutting the deficit by half by the end of his first term----We all know he has added more than any president in histroy

Keeping unemployment below 8 %---LOL did not happen

Close Gitmo---Oh well

Open Televised health care debate---Oppps did not happen

No lobbyist in White House---Worst in History. Goldman Sachs runs the place

Lower Gas prices---So much for that

I will make govt open and transplant and stop pork barrel spending---Bawaaaa

Will give the public 5 days to look online for any bill before I sign it---Put down the crack pipe barry

Every Corporate tax break will be put online for every bill I sign

By the way YES BUSH SUCKED to that is not a defense of Obama.

Presidents get way more credit for a good/bad economy than they deserve. Presidents are only as effective as the congress behind them. There is only so much a president can do without the support of congress.

However, that is not to say that government has no effect on the economy. The government, cumulatively at all levels, is after all the largest single employer. It has the power to set laws and enforce them. It also controls the tax rates on income and tariffs on imports.

Its rather ironic though, at a time when we need to create more jobs, the public sector is cutting them like crazy. In some cases its due to a lack of funds, and in other cases due to small government ideology. Unfortunately, private industry is not going to be hiring as much as they used to (Some might blame outsourcing but productivity/efficiency/automation improvements are likely a larger factor).

Since the tea party is more interested in pushing their ideology over solving problems, we are probably going to stay in this situation for a long time to come.

 It shall be interesting to see the debates.

Moderator: Mr. President what are your plans for blah blah...

Obama: blah blah blah

Moderator: And Mr Romney?

Romney: The opposite of whatever he just said.

It does. See the little green/white "+" right above the "reply" button? That's a "like" here on VJ. Enough likes and the post will get a "POPULAR!" star on it.

Nobody will know you liked it, but they will know someone liked it.

Why is government that does nothing ineffective? Does government have to do something to be effective? Doesn't seem like they're very effective to me.

Romney is just white bread Obama. He sucks too.

What's really funny is those TV commercials where Obama is calling out Romney on his economic policy. If that isn't the pot calling the kettle black!
