Hey guys, I have a lawyer helping me out through this whole immigration process (From the very beginning...)

I am a US Citizen (Born in CA) and my spouse lives in Iran.

Anyway... Here's what has been done already:

I130 was approved...

Sent to NVC...

NVC Assigned my case number TODAY

I went online and paid the $88.00 and $230.00 fee's... still processing... waiting for it to be "Done" here in 1-2 days...

I've been all over this forum for over 6 months now, don't post much, just read but I'm kind of stumbled on whats next...

I emailed my lawyer to send an email for the DS-3032 so she will be doing that tomorrow.

I printed off the DS-230 and the I-864 forms...

Now my question is, does ANY form have to be signed by my wife in Iran? (Such as the I864, DS230, or any other form) or do I not need to send her anything? I really hope not as it takes a LONG time to send/receive things and thats IF the mail makes it there.

I was going to give my lawyer the DS-230 and the I864 forms tomorrow for her to fill out for me, of course, I signed the portion on the I-864 form that states "Sponsors Signature".

I also included all the paper work requested from this link for my lawyer such as My wifes ORIGINAL documentation as requested on that list.

http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/EZGuideSpouse

Now it says in the link above under the "IV Packet" Section of the NVC:

c. Completed and signed form DS-230 Part 1 by the beneficiary

d. Completed and 'unsigned' form DS-230 Part 2 by the beneficiary

Isn't the "Beneficiary" my wife?

So if I'm reading this right, she needs to fill out 2 DS-230's... sign one of them, DON'T sign the other one. Correct?

It also says:

"1 set photocopy" of all the above civil documents... so I need to (obviously) copy all the paper work and include it in the IV packet as well?

After sending the IV Packet and the AOS packet, as long as I am not missing anything I have to pretty much sit and wait for the NVC to do there job and complete and forward the paper work to the Consulate. Simple as that right?

Oh and also... People state that they get there Medical exams about 1-2 weeks prior to the interview, does this mean that my wife has to fly to the Country of the consulate well before her interview and pretty much stay there until the interview date? or can she have her medical exam 2-3 days before the interview?

Thanks SO MUCH guys!

I130 for my Spouse Filed --> Dec. 25th 2011

I130 Approved --> May 15th, 2012

DS-230 & I-864 Paid --> June 13th, 2012

NVC Completed & Forwarded to Ankara Embassy --> July 19th, 2012

Interview Appointment --> Oct. 11th, 2012

hey ... salam .. well from my understanding she doesnt need to sign the I-864 but the DS-230 and DS-3032 do need to be signed by her.... also usually the consulate or NVC let you know where and when to take the medical exams but in a case for iran i dont know how it work i woud guess that yes she would need to take a exam in another country as well.. but instead of you mailing out the forms to her is there anyway she can just type up and print out the forms and mail them here? this would cut your mailing time in half....

Now if you could help the rest of us ...

and explain how your process is going with NVC what kind of info did they ask you for?

and ect ect anythign that you think would be helpful to other people applying. thanx and good luck...

Since you have a lawyer, a DS-3032 is NOT needed. Do NOT send it! Your IV bill ($230) has already been invoiced and paid (the whole purpose of the DS-3032). Since you have a lawyer, she is automatically designated as the agent for the case.

Your wife (the beneficiary) has to fill out the DS-230, and sign just part 1. Part 2 gets signed at the interview in front of an officer. So, it's not two DS-230s, it's one. But the form is broken into two parts. The first one gets signed, the second one doesn't (until later).

Your wife also needs to send you certificates (birth and police). The birth certificate has to be either an original or certified copy. The police certificate has to be the original. There are also other things your wife needs to send you. You can find them in the link you've been looking at.

For the 1 set of photocopies, it's just of the birth and marriage certificates, so you can get the originals/certified copies back at the time of the interview.

Once NVC has both packages and completes your case, your case is then put into queue for an interview date to be assigned. Once your interview date is assigned, then your case is forwarded to the consulate.

You can have the medical done whenever (after getting the interview letter) as long as it's a panel physician.

No one gives you the green light to get the medical done. They assume you know what you need to do. As soon as you get your interview letter, you can get your medical done.

For the marriage certificate, it doesn't need to be translated if there's English on one side. When putting the package together, make sure you put the marriage certificate English side up so the reviewing officer will see it (they might not be smart enough to flip the paper over). Just send the original if that's what you have. To get certified copies, you typically go to the issuing agency and just request them. That's how it's done in Canada and the US at least.

The DS-3032 is not needed. You can email NVC the data that's on the form. Please check out the wiki here: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Email_DS-3032_form

In the IV package, you also need two passport pictures of the beneficiary.

I suggest you click on the last two links in my signature. One will direct you to a post full of NVC links and guides. The second points to a FAQ post I put together. Both these links should help you through the NVC process.

You're welcome!

No, she cannot scan it and email it back to you. It has to be the original signature otherwise NVC will issue a checklist. She'll have to print out the DS-230, sign it (just part 1!!), and then mail everything needed, either to you or directly to NVC.

Hi Mnivet,

I am a little surprised that you felt that you needed to hire an attorney to help you through this process, unless your case is complicated. We did ours on our own with all the help on this forum - and I have to say that while there was a lot of information to submit and paperwork to collect, the directions on the forms were pretty self-explanatory. I'm sure we saved some money doing this ourselves too.

Please keep us all informed about how it's going!

Hey guys, I have a lawyer helping me out through this whole immigration process (From the very beginning...)
