Hi Guys,

My US citizen fiancee and I are about to start the K1 visa process. I am from Australia so I will be applying at the Sydney consulate. Does anyone with expereince in applying for the K1 from Australia know how long we can expect to wait for the issuance of the visa?

Also, Would someone be able to put me to the direction of the forms we need to file here in the US for the K1 please? Would I find them on the UCIS site??

Thanks so much for your time.

David

Welcome to the forum. You will have to apply in the US at the Texas Lockbox. Once approved on US roughly (5 months) and travel to the NVC which will in turn send it to Sydney (1 Month). After that it depends on the country specific embassy to schedule an appointment, check country specific portal. So, around 7 to 9 months.

About the forms you can find them on USCIS but use the following guide:-

Good luck on the journey.

The process takes 6 months + , you send your initial petition to the lockbox in Texas, you get your first notice of assessment a week or two after that, then you wait around 5 months for your second notice of assessment... (and the process continues).

A full guide to the process can found in the guides section - or click the links in the post above!

Settle in for a long wait OP and good luck :)
