Here's what we sent. Purple is our personal info blocked out :)

Oh my bad that was our first draft :bonk: I was looking in my sent email folder and that was the first file I found. If you're using that letter as a reference, I listed DS-157 twice so make sure to replace it with "DS-156K" on the second reference.

Congratulations!!! :) That does suck about your interview date being on such a busy day, but at least you're a step closer and hopefully you'll be able to change it.

My guy's interview letter still isn't showing up in his embassy portal, so I'm really glad I called.

Yeah, I'm thinking not to trust that portal thingie, although it does show your appointment number which I'm hoping will help in the moving of interview.

Totally agree on not trusting the portal. I was just talking to my guy though and he got the actual letter in the mail today, but it's not online there. The MRV receipt is though, so I'm thinking this thing is probably the last to be updated.

Hi,

I'm applying for a CR-1 (having filed the I-130 in the US). Does anyone know if calling the DOS number mentioned in this thread would give me any information or if its just for K1 visas? I'm impatiently waiting for the Embassy to receive my file from the NVC and then I'm planning to try and rearrange my interview date (which is forever away).

Thanks!

Yes, DOS would know if a case had reached the embassy. Once a case gets handed over from USCIS (Dept of Homeland Security) to NVC/Embassy (Dept of State) then it should be on DOS's radar.

Thanks for the reply! I'll give them a call when they open.

I wonder if they'll be able to provide information about how I can reschedule my interview or just tell me whether my file has arrived.

So I phoned the DOS and they said that NVC hadn't sent it out yet.

Then phoned NVC and they said that because the interview was so far away (oh the irony) they hadn't sent it out. They refused to send it out sooner.

Currently nothing I can do in order to try and bring it forwards.

The London embassy's website gives you that information

RESCHEDULING THE INTERVIEW

If you wish to reschedule the appointment for the visa interview, you may call the Operator Assisted Information Service for assistance.  Please note:  While we will attempt to accomodate your change of appointment request, it may not always be possible to offer you your preferred choice.  In addition, preference applicants will require new visa numbers which will take at least two months to obtain.

That last sentence doesn't apply to you. Spouses are not in a preference category and there is no wait for a visa number to become available. But unfortunately, you are still at NVC.

Hello. I know this post is from a while ago but I was just interested...does that mean when I get my interview date I could call and ask for an earlier one if they have any slots? (Or do you need to have a reason other than 'I just want to see my hubbby' to be eligable?)
