I have the police certificate. Can my wife use the photocopy? Also, if she does the medical report now and the embassy receives it, what are they going to do with it?

My fiance took his original (He just told me it was required to be the original) police certificate and his passport. He did get both back before leaving the medical. They will tell her when the medical will be sent to the emabassy and the embassy will just hang onto it and wait for your packet three to arrive.

We kept close watch on our case calling the DOS daily. They have changed things and it is really hard to get to a real person and I'm not sure what to push on the menu anymore to get to one but their number is 202-663-1225. They were able to tell us when the medical was received by the embassy. You must be specific though because after we sent in packet three they kept telling us the embassy recieved packet 3 when it was actually the medical that was received. (Doing it this way is a bit backwards from what they are used to.) It seemed to take forever for the embassy to log in packet three but don't worry...they will get to it.

Then when they did log it in we knew and it was forever!!! (just over a week) before we got the interview date from DOS. We also paid for our visa early and expected the interview date to come up on the page where we downloaded our receipt but it still doesn't show it at all. But we kept praying and then found that our interview was scheduled in just 10 days away and just in time to make a flight for our wedding date.

It has been stressful wondering if we would make the date or not. But we did put in our cover letter our wedding date and that we would be willing to take an appointment on short notice. And it did all work out. Of course there are no guarantees but it does seem they do try to work towards it when they can.

Your wedding is the 21st of August right? I should think your situation will be similar to ours....close but still making it in time. Best wishes.

The OP is doing the spouse visa so the process is a bit different. His case will be handled by NVC and he will submit all his documents to them and pay the visa fee to them. When the case is complete NVC will assign an interview date, not the Embassy.

OP - I'm not sure about the Police Certificate. It makes sense that they would accept a photocopy as the original needs to be sent to NVC. I actually ordered two originals (just in case) so we both had one. I would call the clinic and ask them.

The Embassy will just hold your medical results until an interview date is assigned. I assume that is why you cannot do the medical until you have an LND number, as that is the reference they will use to file them under.

Oooh, I didn't know about the Department of State phone number. I wanted to see if I could get any information out of them lol so I called the number you posted. There's a VERY long intro message, then you press 1, and then press 0 to speak with a specialist. I was connected right away and the woman on the phone was very nice. I just had to give my LND case number and fiance's name/bday. My reason for calling was to confirm that the embassy received the packet 3 documents. She said they were received and all they were waiting on was the medical exam results. His medical exam is next week so we're good to go. :)

Thanks for sharing that number, it helps me in my ultra paranoia about documents being misplaced, etc. :)

So... I got impatient and called the Department of State today (the U.S. area code 202 number). They said everything was received and his interview date was scheduled! They said it would be on July 25 and that his packet 4 letter should go out today. We're so excited!! :)

The London olympics are scheduled to start on July 27, so I'm not sure if they tried to fit us in before all of that or what, but my timeline seems to be in line with other K1 filers going through this embassy recently.

I'm definitely excited :) I got the DOS number from your post above: 202-663-1225. If you press 1, then 0 right away, you go directly to a person and don't have to listen to any of those long recordings. All you need to provide is the LND case number you have to look up your file.

The appointment letter isn't showing up for me on the embassy portal as of right now - I'm thinking there's probably a delay in documents being posted on there with switching from the DOS database to the embassy database, to the public posting, etc. If my guy doesn't receive the hard copy letter in a week and it's not on there, I'll probably call again to confirm :)

If the embassy has everything, definitely call the DOS number and see what they say :)
