I work in the media business in Denmark and I recently signed a freelance contract with a major u.s. Media company.

They have offered me work in two months during the summer 2012. How i get a visa that is 'valid for employment'? I only plan to stay ofr a limited period of time.

Best

Your US company's lawyer should be able to arrange that.

You will likely want an I visa though: http://travel.state.gov/visa/temp/types/types_1276.html

It seems odd that they did not tell you, especially with the limited time.

It would not be freelance, you would need to be an employee.

If the company is "major" US media company, they should know what to do. You should be talking to HR or their lawyer about this. Also be careful with the freelance contract. Even if they paid, don't ever receive income if you're not on a work visa.
