We are about to file our application for marriage based green card. So I am doing one last check, should I send out one check or two seperate checks: one in $420 for I-130 and one in $1070 for I-485 and biometric? Are there any other fees I need to pay? I remember reading something about I-864 processing fee, but USCIS website was quite vague about it. Thanks.

I too was confused about the I-864 fee, so I sent it (separate) check. It was returned with a rejection notice. So, no, it is not needed.

Other than that we sent two separate checks, one for I-130 and one for I-485

The processing fee for the I-864 is only required if you are filing it through the Consulate and thus Department of State, if you are doing the I-130/AOS package then it gets processed by the Department of Homeland Security.

To answer the question, I sent three checks: $420 for the I-130, $985 for the I-485 & $85 for the biometrics-- I only did this just in case one form was rejected, then the others could still be processed since I read somewhere in the instructions that if you write one check and a form is rejected, then all forms get rejected and the check returned. Now weather or not this is true, I don't know.

But honestly, send one, two or three checks-- I really do not believe it makes much of a difference.

You were right. I just found this on USCIS website. They do want you to send seperate checks for each application. And the reason is what you stated, if one gets rejected, you will still have the other processed. Many thanks.
