The color is different.

The layout is different.

There is a different picture on the front the finger print is in a different spot.

It doesn't have a ####### ton of numbers at the bottom of the front of it anymore.

There is a gold eagle head on it.

The hologram in the background is different.

The copper strip on the back is not as large.

There are quite a few differences in the cards.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

Hey guys, just wondered if there are any differences between conditional GC and permanent GC in terms of appearance. Is the picture the same? is the only difference the expiration date?

The only difference is if you got your conditional card before May, 2010 when the cards were redesigned. That's not a difference between the conditional and not, but yours will look different if your conditional card is one with the older design on it.

AOS (from tourist w/overstay)

1/26/10 - NOA

5/04/10 - interview appt - approved

ROC

2/06/12 - NOA date

7/31/12 - card production ordered

N-400

2/08/13 - NOA date

3/05/13 - biometrics appt

6/18/13 - interview - passed!

7/18/13 - oath ceremony

Mine does not. Mine is yellow and gross! So there is a difference in mine. A huge difference in the cards.

My husband received his on May 31 2010, does that mean his 10 year card will be different?

Working in Turkmenistan, spouse is with me.

You'll have a new picture of yourself, and the card will look different because they got redesigned in mid-2010. I got my conditional card right before they redid them, so my 10 year card will look totally different.

It should be the same. My wife was approved for her green card on 5/4/2010 and it was delayed for 2 weeks while they implemented the new design. Her card is the new version (received late May, 2010)

There is no difference in appearance between cards for people with "conditional" permanent residence and "regular" permanent residence. There is a big misnomer that there is some palpable difference between the two, and there is not. They are all Permanent residents, and the card is a permanent resident card. The only difference is that "conditional" residents need to renew their cards in a different way, by checking in with USCIS and showing again that they are not circumventing immigration law in order to renew.

If you got your cards before and after a redesign, that's another story. Every card issued today, either "conditional" or "regular" will all look the same.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

Yep. All permanent resident cards, conditional or 10 year, look the same. Since they were redesigned starting May 11, 2010, some people might have gotten the old look for their conditional and then the new look for their 10 year card. It isn't because the 10 year cards look any different from a conditional one, you just happened to get one of the old design, and one of the new. All cards issued since May 2010 have the new look, conditional and 10 year.

Mine looked like that too. They redesigned the cards right after we got ours, so if you were approved after like December of 2009 you probably got the new design, and your card will look the same.
