Hello Everyone

We are now approaching our 4 month mark and are getting things ready for when NOA2 arrives. We are having a bit of trouble getting the proper info for the police check. We have been told to go in and fill out the forms at the NSW police department as well as submit it on line. We have also been told that we need to contact the Federal Police which there seems to be no way of contacting them through the site where we have been also shown to go and fill out the on line form. We just need to know exactly where to go and what forms need to be filled out so that we have it done properly and hopefully before we get NOA2 because it seems we have heard that it can take up to six weeks to get.

Also if there is anyone who is going through Embassy stage at the moment could give us a rough estimate of the time between NOA2, NVC and Embassy getting it processed and the interview scheduled we would like to know the approximate timing of that as well. We have heard that the Embassy has been moving a little slower than normal and were wondering if they were all caught up or still lagging a bit.

Thanks

im doing my visa with philippines embassy. i just got my NOA2 on 31 may 2012. i have yet to get my NVC case number. the NVC told me it can take up to 15 business days for them to get my packet from the USCIS. i hope that helps you with the the time frame from getting the NOA2 approval notice and the NVC case number. as far as any thing else i dont know how things work where you are. and also remember ever case is different. so yours could move faster or slower then other peoples that are doing it in the same place you are..... :star::thumbs:

Hi One Half

I come from Queensland and when I had to obtain the police reports I went to my local Police Station, had my fingerprints completed same day and filled in an application for the Federal Police Check, the local police station sent off the report and the report came back about 10 days later. We applied for our K1 in June last year and the visa was issued in February this year. Our NOA1 took over 5 months but if you have all the information on hand before the NOA2 arrives it really is not long. We received our NOA2 in November and I had an interview in February but there was a 4 week delay due to our lawyer not providing the correct information so I did not send the Package 3 until end of January. Best advice I can give is be as ready as you can, I only received one week's notice for my interview and I had to fly from Qld to Sydney so it was crazy. The NOA1 and NOA2 takes forever to get or it feels that way, but after that everything happens so fast its crazy! So be ready! Good luck, hope my experience helps.

Hi

I'm from Sydney and I did my police check in Feb/March, please see the pinned topic in Aus NZ forum about 'NSW police check'

The new way, fast way is to do it online only for the form, then take your documents, form to the local police station when they can do your fingerprints, they don't accept bookings, so you have to check by phone before going every now and then.

Yeah Feb-April Sydney consulate was slower than usual, don't know about now.

My fiance (also in NSW) just started the police check (using the online way that Athena13 mentioned) on the 8th. He called them yesterday and they said it would be about 15 days to get it processed. I'm sure it can jump around faster or slower, but if you're looking for recent info, that's our experience. =)

We're holding off on the medical right now because the NVC is currently taking so long to receive petitions/give a case number. From what I've seen a month or more seems to be the current time frame for getting a case number. The operator when I called NVC wouldn't even check to see if they received our petition yet because it hadn't been 15 business days. =/ I think I just got a bad operator, but eh. My fiance doesn't want to book a medical and then not end up with a case number in time and have to reschedule even farther down the road. We're waiting until the NVC says they at least received our petition before he books the medical. So even if the Embassy is moving regular again, the NVC seems to have slowed down and caused extra waiting anyway. >_<

Yeah don't get medical done too far ahead, but I think book one for the 5th month after noa2 is safe enough. Unless you are wanting to hand in AOS forms in US too far from this medical date (since it's valid for 1 year)

Police check, yeah with my online one they also said 15 working days (same as paper form) but I got it approved the next day and got it in the mail after 3-4 days. It depends I think. and later on (1 month later) I got a phone call from police, saying they got my police check certificate ready, do I want to send it to me or consulate, I said I already got it one month ago when I did a paper and an e-form. so the system is a bit messy still. I didn't get charged twice.
