Hey guys,

First off, Thanks to everyone who contributed to this very helpful forum.

I applied for GC (I-485, I-130, I-765, and AP based on marriage) around late March, did the biometrics around late April and received EAD (which also serves as AP - I guess) around May 18 (about 60 days after the application). However, I have not heard anything about the GC interview yet (it's been about 80 days) - I signed up for email/text notification using G-325 (sent with the package) and along the whole process I never received any text/emails besides those four receipt acknowledgment emails. But I received the EAD by mail. Did you have this hit and miss experience with text/email notifications?

I was just wondering when I can hope to receive the interview letter based on your experience. I really need to make an international travel and got kind of stuck because of this uncertainty. Do you think I can reschedule the interview in the worst case?

Thanks a lot!

What visa are you AOSing from?

If your H1B is still valid you can travel.

If your H1B is not valid and you did not overstay between expiration and filing for AOS, you can use AP to travel.

Your interview notice will depend on the availability at your local office. You have no profile filled out so it's hard to help you on that.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

The EAD card will say "Serves as advance parole" if it serves as advance parole; otherwise you did not get advance parole. If you have a valid H1-B still and you're in status on it, you can continue to use it to travel.

My original visa was F-1 (student) that already expired. Then I got my H1B in 2010. After checking a lot of timelines over here, I thought people (in similar situation - AOSing from H1B through marriage) usually receive the interview letter and EAD back to back. It's been over 3 weeks since I received my EAD. So I was just trying to figure if that's normal. My local office would be the one in Austin/San Antonio area.

Thanks a lot for your help - I'll update my timelines very soon - don't have the exact dates handy right now.

AOS processing times have slowed across the board.

Go to the USCIS website https://egov.uscis.g...ectusertype.jsp and create an account which will allow you to check your case status. When you add your receipts number (I-797) to your portfolio, you will be able to activate the email/text notification. In my case they forgot to activate the text notification even though I had requested it but I was able to correct it on the website. Good luck.
