2- how much time can IRS take after receiving ITIN ?

tanks for help

speaking from experience, no. you need to get the ITIN first in order to fill jointly.

my tax return was on hold. TAX return takes another 6-8 weeks to process after you acquired a ITIN.

You are getting a good one! LOL dancin5hr.gif

One can file both paper based tax return ALONG with application for ITIN application. For me, it took 5 weeks to get ITIN # and plus another TWO weeks to accept my tax return.

If you file at this non-tax season, it may take lesser time than filing during peak tax season of Jan thro April.
