6 of my husband's family members are staying with us in our tiny 1 bedroom apartment for 10 days. 2 of them (his parents) are staying for 4 weeks. WHAT WERE WE THINKING?

I am curious as to how often family stays with you during visits, if it has been a pleasant experience or a nightmare, and if you and you spouse would ever consider doing it again....

Thanks in advance for your thoughts/stories :)

My mother comes once a year for 2-3 weeks.

She will take one of the kids' rooms and the kids double up. It's ok, and I love seeing her, but after 2 weeks or so I am definitely ready for her to go home :)

when family comes they never usually stay more then a week. It is ok when we have had an extra bedroom but last time my brother and nephew came we lived in a small one bedroom place. I was ready to pull my hair out a few days into our visit..

When my parents visit they stay 2-3 weeks (Australia is a pretty long trek :) ), when my in-laws come, they tend to stay for about a week. Fortunately, we have a spare bedroom so it's not a huge issue. I guess it really depends on how much extra space you have and how respectful the visitors are of your rules and your privacy. All of our parents are pretty good about checking with us before they go ahead and did anything major, they pitch in with the housework and do not expect to be entertained. We're totally fine with them visiting us.
