Hi guys! I am a Macedonian citizen studying and living in Germany for the past 7 years now, and met my American fiancé at my university two years ago. We sent in the documents for a fiancé k-1 visa on January 16th 2012, got the receipt on January 23rd, but since then there has been no movement whatsoever regarding the status. "Initial review" has become our daily bread :I

Can you please share some of your experiences with me? I am slowly going nuts (^^), since I am about to finish my Master's in Tübingen, got accepted to Yale (where my fiancé is studying as well), and cannot start planing anything - neither family nor career...

I hope that some miracle will happen and I can finally be with my fiancé preferably before the end of August...

Looking forward to your responses, man, Vermont is slow, and I cannot think of ANY reason why they would reject or delay our petition.. Thank you so much in advance!

Yours,

Ana

If you got the receipt on Jan. 23rd, then you're still within the 5 month processing time. But even that's not guaranteed. It took ours 169 days (over 5 months and 2 weeks) to finally get approved (and that was with no RFE's). Some people are waiting there for 6 months.

I was hoping to be with my fiance by August as well, but with the NVC currently running so slow (I've been seeing people waiting a month or more to get their case numbers) I'm starting to be hopeful that he's even here for September. =/

Hello

I just got my NOA2 but it is CSC. I believe you should get it soon as VSC is faster. Check your NOA1 they show there when they receive after it is over 5 month (I would guess yours is Jan 20, 2012) so on jun 21, 2012 call USCIS National Customer Service Center (NCSC) at 1-800-375-5283 or via TTY at 1-800-767-1833 (for hearing impaired). I choose options 1,1,1... until it ask for case number (use whole numbers including with letters) just have to wait until they say "to report problem with your case press" I can not remember what key it was. Tell them that your application is outside of normal processing time.

Fill in your timeline please :) after you do that, you need to patiently wait. There is more of us still waiting , some filed the petition long before you did.

I am not sure how quick is the embassy in your country but from the date you receive your NOA2 it might take 2-3 months before you have your visa in hand...

Thanks so much for your fast responses! I see that it helps a lot just to talk and hear from people that are in the same mess as we are right now :) Okay, June 23rd then it is. I wish all of you lots of luck and patience too and lets hope to hear some news soon! Ana

I just filled it in! Very helpful, thanks!

p.s. Does anybody happen to know if I am going to have to do the whole interview-process in my country of residence - Germany - or in my country of citizenship - Macedonia?

Depending what did you put in your I 129F form :) I am Polish but have been an Irish citizen 8 years so I put down Dublin as a place of my interview :)
