My fiancee lives in China and i am just starting to file the petition for a k-1.

She found on a popular Chinese website called "001" it states that two of the items i need from her are a notarized copy of her birth certificate/passport and a copy of her single notarization.

The single notarization is just a notarized form stating that she is single and able to marry or does our letter of intent cover this part.

How does she show proof that she is single and not married?

I know it says nothing about needing these things on Visajourney but i just thought i would ask to make her more comfortable.

Also, she would like to know if there is anything during the whole process that will need to be notarized?

THX for any help

Moving from K1 Process & Procedures to China regional forum; topic is country specific.

The documents being referenced will not be needed until the interview and they are commonly referred to as "white books." She obtains a notarial birth certificate and notarial single certificate from the notary office where her hukou (household registration) is located. Your letter of intent does not replace the single status white book.

How does she show proof that she is single and not married?

This would be indicated in her household registration (hukou).

I know it says nothing about needing these things on Visajourney but i just thought i would ask to make her more comfortable.

These items are China specific (hence my reasoning for moving the thread).

We jsut got NOA2 for our K1 visa petition, and my US fiance only sent my notarized single white book (Here we call white book for these notarized certificates)to USCIS, and they never asked me to give other documents.

Here I will share my experience how to get the un-married white book. Firstly, go to local civil affairs bureau(民政局) (Also in China, we have Hukou(户口) system, so please talk with the people working in this bureau about it) to get the certificate where they will state you have no any marriage records in this bureau. Then go to the official notary office to get the un-marriage notaried white book in Chinese and English.

As I know, so far we only need to submit three white books to Guangzhou Consulate: notarized birh certificate, notarized un-marriage certificate, and notarized no-criminal record.

Please search the relevant information in this website and you will get more.

Good luck!

Welcome to the forum.

I agree with the prior responses. At this time, my fiancee is submitting to the GUZ consulate four white books as geek and geekette mentioned, with the addition of her divorce whitebook. Check the specific requirements of the GUZ consulate at the "Embassy Info" tab at the top of the forum page.

In order to get revelevant statistics, please correct your filing center on your profile to either Vermont Service Center (EAC) or California Service Center (WAC). This information can be found on your I-797c (NOA1) receipt number. The Texas Service Center does not adjudicate K-1 visa petitions. You sent your petition to the Dallas TX lockbox location, NOT the Texas Service Center.

BTW, at the current time, due to the weather here in Guangzhou, I feel like a steamed dumpling........thank goodness for A/C !!! Medical exam was on Monday, document intake is today (Wednesday), with the interview tomorrow (Thursday).

Good luck on your visa journey.

Completed: K1/K2 (271 days) - AOS/EAD/AP (134 days) - ROC (279 days)
