I am a USC and my Pakistani husband has been here on a CR-1 visa for 8 1/2 months. He is missing his family a lot, also I am having surgery and need someone around while I recover, because my husband can't get time off from work and I do not have strong ties with my family. We decided that his older brother should apply for a visit visa. His interview is at the end of this month. Any advice for the interview? She we send him any information from our side? Thanks!

Would it not be more appropriate to have a female family member visit?

Having 'someone around' to do housework, make dinner and otherwise take care of the household while you are recovering is called....."work"...something a B2 holder cannot do, whether being paid or not. What you described sounds like you need a housekeeper/nurse, a job that many Americans are capable (and legally entitled) to carry out.

Now of course, we will hear how he just 'wants to see America'...but the timing seems a bit fortuitous.

I don't agree that having my brother in law around after my surgery would be considered work. I never described anything as to needing a house keeper and I certainly do not need a babysitter. Anyway, I have decided to go to Pakistan for my surgery and stay there a month or so, but still my husband would like his brother to visit here. They are very close. Just wondering what sort of documents people have brought to their interviews. He does have a stable, government job, a home, a car, and property. anything else anyone has experience with? He has applied on his own, was just wondering if it would be of any benefit to show he has family in the US he would be staying with.

That would be a negative, take whatever he has, it is unusual for documents to be looked at.
