Hello VJ friends :) ,

NVC require next documents from beneficiary:

2 Passport-sized photos of foreign spouse

Photocopy of Valid Passport Biographic Data Page

Police Certificate

Birth Certificate

Marriage Certificate

Marriage Termination Documentation

Military Records

Court and Prison Records.

I remember that i sent to USCIR at the beginning copy of birth certificate and marriage certificate but the original translation and notarize for both ,so now if i send the original for both documents do i have to go again to the notary for original translation or i can send some copies?

Can you also tell me pls what's the difference between Police certificate and Court and Prison Records.I always thought that in Police certificate is written all about a person record..it looks to me that i have to run twice for the same thing.

Thanks guys.

Hi there, you may have figured this one out by now already, but I'll reply just in case. You did not need to send a notarized translation of your birth certificate or your birth certificate at all to USCIS. I didn't and it was fine. I had an American marriage certificate, so I didn't send a notarized translation of that to USCIS either. I did however prepare notarized translations to send to NVC with the original birth certificate and court records from Romania. The NVC requirement for notarized translations are clear and it's probably worth the extra charge to send originals of the notarized translations and not copies to the NVC. Perhaps you can get the notary public office to re-issue the translation for a smaller fee (i.e. just the authentication fee, since they probably have the translation on record so you shouldn't need to pay the translation fee again)?

You could also call the NVC because they are very responsive and can tell you if USCIS forwards all of your documents once your file is moved to NVC. Knowing USCIS, they probably don't, but it's worth calling NVC (the phone number is easy to find online). Just note that if you are the visa applicant, you'll need the petitioner to be on the call with you or call instead, because they prefer to talk to the petitioner (US spouse).

Good luck!
