Hi, sure that is the what they usually tell people except I've not really heard of 4 weeks, they normally say 2 weeks but you end up getting your SSN card within 7 days at most from the day you applied. Sit tight, you should get your SSN card in a couple more days. Best of luck!

3/21/2012 (Day 0) - I-130, I-485 and I-765 sent.

3/23/2012 (Day 1) - Delivered to USCIS.

3/27/2012 (Day 5) - E-Notification that paperwork received.

3/28/2012 (Day 6) - One check for $1,490 cashed & cleared for I-130 and I-485.

4/02/2012 (Day 11) - NOA hard copies received (x3), case status available online & bio appt. also received, dated 04/12 @ 8:00 AM.

4/10/2012 (Day 19) - Case status online says changed to RFE received.

4/12/2012 (Day 21) - Successful biometric done.

5/11/2012 (Day 50) - Complete RFE (I-864) received. Case status online changed to RFE received.

5/16/2012 (Day 55) - Online case status says: Card/ Document Production.

5/21/2012 (Day 60) - Online case status says: Card picked up by USPS.

5/24/2012 (Day 63) - EAD card in hand.

6/12/2012 (Day 82) - Testing and Interview.

But I read some posts (dated back in earlier 2011 and earlier) on here that some people did not get the SSN untill after more than 4 weeks because the process for SS to verify things with HSD is loooooong...if the situation is still like that I hope there is way to speed up the process....

4 week confirmation is a bullsh|t answer. I say go back, get a supervisor, and ask that you be looked up in yer VISA name and VISA A#.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Yeah, they told me up to 8 weeks due to new confirmation processes! They are full of it  My husband got his EAD, and immediately applied for a SS number. Someone in these forums had suggested going in the next day after we applied to get the number, so we did - and he got it....the next day! And we got the card about a week later.

There actually is a new immigration verification system called SAVE. Government agencies can run your immigration document through the database to make sure that you are in the status you're claiming to be in. After you're naturalized, they'll add that data too so that agencies can make sure you are actually a U.S. citizen.

Theoretically they could be using SAVE now. http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=e05588061b5c4210VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD&vgnextchannel=1721c2ec0c7c8110VgnVCM1000004718190aRCRD

When my wife arrived on her K-1 we went and got her a SSC, but in her maiden name. We got married, started the AOS and she received her EAD. Yesterday we went to do a name change and get a SSC that was not stamped "Not authorized to work". We were told that my wife's information was not in the computer and they would mail USCIS a request to verify the information on her EAD and "usually" USCIS was quick with a response--that it should take about a week.

We live in the computer age and it is hard to believe that the EAD and information is not in a data base for SSA to access, just a waste of time to use some type of manual system.

SAVE database system isn't new .

SSA offices use it.

I've been writing about it here for two years.

The PROBLEM is that the front line clerk, 85 percent of the time, either isn't properly trained to do intake for SSN applicants who hold a VISA or EAD, or simply doesn't give a sh|t. 10 times out of 10, when one asks the clerk to LOOK UP the applicant in the SAVE system with the VISA name or VISA Number (A#), the human will be found, or the spelling will be off or the A# is transposed (Thank You clerks at the @#$ing CBP)

So, it's not new. Perhaps newish, let's say this decade, or even this century ..

SSA is required to use SAVE system.

We went back to the SS office to check the status of our case last week. They said they had not heard anything back from DHS. We asked them if they could try looking up the information with the VISA name. They said once the appication is formed there is nothing they could do but wait....

Is it true that when the information is verified, you would be able to do the SELF CHECK on the USCIS website?? We tried the system says 'UNABLE TO PROCEED' even though our EAD has been issued for 5-6 weeks....It is very frustrating...

We are in the same boat. Applied June 5th. Office said ten days or less to confirm. We keep checking but not confirmed. Ss office sends a 2nd email and still no reply. We receive a letter from the SSA confirming our application and that it may take up to 4 weeks. Contact the local office multiple times. They told my wife that uscis requested a copy of my wifes documents(only work permit and birth cert. Were used at SS and uscis has those already. Called the SS local office on the 28th and they say now that we need to wait another 4 weeks?? Wth? 8 damn weeks??

Smells like you need to get the supervisor and have the supervisor perform a lookup in SAVE.

'They' , alas, have screwed you over.

'They' , alas, have screwed you over.

After we read your posts about SAVE system, we went back to the SS office trying to have them do a lookup. But they said there was nothing they could do but wait after they sent out the verification request. They showed us the computer screen how they precessed the case. It looked like some electronic form. After they put in the information they clicked 'continue' to proceed. It showed that the name, passport number, country, and age were verfied, but not the EAD. It said 'waiting to be verfied by mail G8** something...'

Funny that after she showed us this, she highlighted "it will take within 4 weeks" in the letter that was given to us back on June 07. It has almost been 4 weeks by now... Do you think if an infopass appointment would help if we don't get the SSN in 4 weeks??

Is it true that when your information is in the system and that the SS office could issue your SSN, you would be able to do the SELFCHECK on USCIS website here?? http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.eb1d4c2a3e5b9ac89243c6a7543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=2ec07cd67450d210VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD&vgnextchannel=2ec07cd67450d210VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD

Anyone tried this??

I don't understand what the whole waiting on EAD card to get social thing is... I got here with a K1 visa, got married and then applied to my social... only thing they asked was, my passport, the I-94 and the marriage certificate... so my SSN is included also in all the AOS papers and my EAD is now on production, the only thing with my SSN is that it has a thing on capital laters that says I can't work without DHS authorization but still all this time I've been able to have my driver's license, bank account, cellphone and everything else you couldn't get without a SSN... does it have anything to do with the type of visa?? cuz really to me doesn't make any sense to wait for the EAD card for you to be able to get a SSN
