IRS Is Not Helping AT ALL

Hi guys, I ordered my 2009, 2010 transcripts online last week and I rang the IRS to get an update today. Well the 2nd woman I spoke to to on the phone at the IRS was incredibly rude to me, she made NVC look like complete angels! She told me she couldn't give me any info on any updates about anything, whether the transcripts have been sent, when they were sent, and so on. I also asked her for an update on my 2011 taxes as they are unavailable online and she told me to just wait. End of story! I have never spoken to anyone who was so rude and unhelpful! If I didn't know how to phrase something, she would cut me off and condescendingly ask 'Ma'am what exactly are you trying to ask me?'

I asked for a 2nd time if they could fax them to me and they said no because I live abroad. Guys I'm getting really down about this , we thought this was going to happen by the end of Summer but its looking like it's not. I take responsibility for not having this together sooner, but I honestly didn't know my tax returns were required, or you bet I would have had them ready! The I864 form is ready to be sent out except for my tax returns. What do I do?

What you do is wait - unfortunately.

We ended up with 3 sets of transcripts. We ordered them - didn't arrive, so I phoned to see when they were sent, very rude person (maybe you get the same female) couldn't tell me when they were sent but would order another set then she told me her system had gone down and there was nothing she could do.

I called again and spoke to a really helpful person who reordered them.

It is frustrating.

you can stop at your local irs office and speak to someone that is willing to help you.

Ha it's funny you mentioned this, because I asked her about that and she didn't know what I was talking about and did her best to make me look stupid! I finally ended up getting connected to the International IRS department which was such breath of fresh air! The lady I spoke with was VERY helpful! She ended up faxing me 2009 and 2010 to our fax machine in Ireland, no problem at all. I wonder if they are allowed to do more because they deal with international requests? Regardless,she saved us a lot of stress!

So I guess I still have to wait for 2011 because she wasn't able to access it now either. She suggested I refile since I can't find my copy that I sent in, not that NVC would accept that anyway, I'm assuming, could I be wrong about that? I don't feel right about refiling, as it might prolong waiting for the return. I think I'll give it another week and see what the progress is.
