Hello VJ readers,

My husband who is a US Citizen filed a separate petition I-130 for me and my 15 yrs old child who is currently living in the Philippines. Since i am already in the United States, I adjusted my status or filed an I-485 and got approved within 89 days. I am now a permanent resident of US. My question are as follows:

A.) When are we going to receive the second notice of approval for my child? (received NOA1 on 2/22/2012)

B.) When can we send the DS-3032 and DS-230?

C.) Since, my husband and I are currently living in the US, can we ask the IV packet to be sent to our home address or it needs to be send to my daughter in the Philippines?

D.) Can my husband (petioner) or me (mother) complete the DS 230? Can I sign the first part since my child is 15 yrs old?

Please help!!!!

Thank you.

Our cases are very similar.

My question are as follows:

A.) When are we going to receive the second notice of approval for my child? (received NOA1 on 2/22/2012)

The normal processing time for I-130 is roughly six months. Some petitions get approved earlier...some later. Many factors play into this (ie service center, current volume of petitions, etc).

B.) When can we send the DS-3032 and DS-230?

I highly suggest reading this guide. I followed it exactly, and had zero problems.

C.) Since, my husband and I are currently living in the US, can we ask the IV packet to be sent to our home address or it needs to be send to my daughter in the Philippines?

You can designate an agent (you or your husband) to receive the IV packet. Again, I would like to refer you to the guide mentioned. It stresses NOT to wait for ANYTHING sent from NVC. Rather, to anticipate the steps and be proactive during the process. This will speed EVERYTHING along.

D.) Can my husband (petioner) or me (mother) complete the DS 230? Can I sign the first part since my child is 15 yrs old?

Yes, you can complete the DS-230 on behalf of your daughter. IMHO, you (the biologic parent) should be the one to complete and sign the DS-230. You will sign your name (not your daughter's name), then place (on behalf of minor child) after your signature.

Please help!!!!

Thank you.

Jocelyn

I hope this helps you some. If you need any more clarification/tips, please PM me. I understand what you're going through. And I would be more than happy to help any way I can.
