First Congratulations on the interview. Looks like you wait about 8 months so congrats and good luck.

I always liked the Makati area as there is another Mall there "Glorietta". This area is large as well with different Malls attached to each other. I use to go there for American Restaraunts when I lived in the Phils. For a nice clean night out taking your fiancee to Hard Rock is nice as they have great bands. It is very big so if it is loud you can go to the bar area and still hear and see through the clear glass and TV's. I like sitting with foreigners when I lived there so there are many other nice quiet spots as well. There is another area that has Zero Degrees Bar http://www.clickthecity.com/travel/?p=13933 that is a cool thing to see for a bit. It is in a Mall area as well.

They have good theatres for live plays if this is your fancy. Not sure of budget or anything, but really the above you can do on any budget. HRC is USA prices but that is about it.

I can direct you to other bars as well if you to sit with your fiancee in nice sports environements. Just message me.

Greenbelt mall in Makati is nice, fancy, and makati itself is fun to check out.

If you go to Ermita, they have Robinsons Mall, and a lot of places to eat its a nice area

You could go to Greenhills, and stock up on fake clothes before returning home

intramuros is fun, if you want to tour around (but its super hot outside)

Binondo , the chinese district is nice to visit , eat foods and tour around.

Just got back from Manila 10 Days ago. Mainly went around the Makati Area but here are some other things we did.

You can check out Manila Ocean park my fiance and I had a lot of fun there. Its in the same area as the US Embassy.Down at the Manila Bay. http://www.manilaoceanpark.com You can also check out Manila - The Baywalk which was in the same area it was pretty cool at night watching the sunset with my girl.

We also spent alot of time in Makati at The Greenbelt area which consists of Ayala Museum, La Tasca, Greenbelt Park, Greenbelt Mall and Greenbelt Square and the Glorietta is a large shopping mall in the Ayala Center in Makati CitY.It is divided into four sections (named Glorietta 1-4) and contains many shops and restaurants, as well as cinema screens, a gym, arcades and a large central atrium often used to stage special events. It has an activity center, located at the heart of the mall.

We also went to Star City which is a Amusement Park if you like that kind of thing. http://www.starcity.com.ph/index.php

Rizal Park is located between Ermita and Intramuros http://www.manila.gov.ph/lunetapark.htm

If thats not enough there are still more Malls, plenty of places to eat, abundance of night life and bars if that's your thing.I must say I had a great time in Manila and felt very safe there. It was my first trip to Manila. For the past 10 years I had always gone to Davao City because that was where my first wife was from.Manila really surprised me.The food was excellent and the people so friendly. I cant wait to go back in November to see my fiance.

If you think the Mall of Asia is big you really need to check out the Mall of America.... ok its not in Manila....

Technically incorrect...

Mall of America is the 21st largest mall in the world... Mall of Asia is #10.

Philippines has 4 Malls larger then the Mall of America according to Wiki.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_largest_shopping_malls_in_the_world

+++

Splash Islands and Enchanted Kingdom are a couple of place my wife wants to

see next time we are in Manlia w/her family.

Regards,

dc

I've been in both and the Mall of Asia doesn't get it done for big; there is a difference in my book between a bunch of buildings connected with walkways and one huge a$$ building, four stories high and more stores then one can see in a day, with an amusement park in the middle for kickers.

You might consider buying her wedding dress in the PHilippines because it is way more expensive in the US. For a similiar wedding dress that cost $500 in the Philippines is costs nearly $2400 in the US.

When my fiancee and I would visit Manila, I preferred to see the native sights. I figured that my fiancee would have years to see western culture after she moved to America. The only real exception was dinner one night at the Hard Rock in the Glorietta Mall in Makati. My girl didn't really like it that much, it was not her style of food.

Some of the things that we did, and places that we visited, that we both enjoyed:

  • Took a bus to Tagaytay and the Taal Volcano.
  • Shopped in the Divisoria market. It is a huge open air market, but be vigilant for snatchers.
  • Intramuros and Rizal Park (Lunetta). Be sure to carry bottled water and a "face towel". It is very hot and humid.
  • The park in the center of the traffic circle in Quezon City.
  • Baywalk along Roxas Blvd, south of the U.S. Embassy.
  • The flea market at Greenhills Mall.
  • Getting around on the LRT and MRT. Often faster than a taxi, because you go over the crowded streets, not through them.
  • Eating BBQ sticks, fried peanuts, bananacue, fresh fruits, and many other delicious foods from the street vendors.

Have fun and be adventurous!

When we're waiting for my visa. We stayed in a hotel near Luneta park. So everynight we spend few hours there just watching the lights show. (i don't know eactly the term for that) anyways, it's fun and free! It's romantic and very humble.

At day, you can visit National museum and Intramuros (Fort Bonifacio has a fee but worth it).. They are all fun and you'll get to know more of Philippine history and culture.

Don't miss also watching the sunset at the baywalk. Just a few walk from Mall of Asia

And this is my husband's favorite, they call it doctor fish. Something like this

My wife and i went to subic for part of the honeymoon and went to ocean park and zoobic safari. Loved ocean park but will never go to zoobic again. I hope to spend time in Manila next visit. Is it easy to get around? Costs of trykes?
