I can't help with the Florida question & this is off topic but the Egyptian restaurant question inspired me to post. We tried yet another "Moroccan" restaurant last night. The only thing Moroccan about the restaurant was my husband being in it. I feel like going to "Moroccan" restaurants here is comparable to an Italian going to the olive garden & expecting it to be authentic Italian food. Sigh. Disappointing.

Sorry for being off topic on your thread!!

totally understandable! We have a lot of "middle eastern" restaurants here but Adam says none of them make food like he's used to in Egypt. I still enjoy the food wherever we go. Dimassi's is a popular one we go to in Houston bcz its a buffet & has a huge variety.

Adam will be a citizen the next time you vacation?! Awesome. Congrats!

If you think of any hot Egyptian spots or spots where people speak Arabic?

We are waiting on Houston to schedule his interview date.

Unless you go to a place with a large Egyptian community or go to a restaurant owned by an Egyptian, you're not going to find authentic Egyptian food. Does Miami have an Egyptian community?

"The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.

I don't recall a huge Egyptian community from when I lived there. However, if one is going to Miami Beach, there are great Cuban, Argentinean, and Jamaican restaurants. Also, if you're looking for Halal/Kosher, there is a tremendous Jewish community, and almost all grocery stores carry that type of food.

I think I read somewhere that you like to cook??? Where do you live? Maybe we can visit there instead?!!! Lol

I cannot cook. But thank God he can

He can live on bread and cheese for a week.

I seen many places serving squid and that is his favorite so I guess we will try a variety of squid dishes. (ok HE will try them and I will eat a hamburger)

Now I'm hungry after reading this thread rofl.gif

Me too and I already ate some gyros....hmmmm time for Baklovah!

I've gone to two Moroccan restaurants in this area, both with Moroccan names and owned by Moroccans. The employees are also Moroccan. The food is exactly like how I tasted it in Morocco. :)
