is there any way to check status of a filed I751??

also does anyone know, my son who is now 18 is in Canada, which he does have cond. perm res status cr2

and my husband and I have filed jointly to have conditions removed I751 for myself and two sons, the one who is 18 has gone to Canada to scope out medical universities and i splanning on attending school there, HOW DOES THIS WORK since we have filed I7451 already.. how can he go to school in Canada?????? My son will be back In august so I am hoping to have biometric appt by then as our temp res card expires aug 22 2012 and mailed in the I751 package with proof end of May

Please any thoughts or links or ideas
