Did anyone out there apply for their SSN via mail? And if yes where there any glitches or its mainly the same time? Thanks!

I-130/AOS Timeline:

03/28/2012 (Day 0) - Concurrent filing of I-130/AOS (with EAD and AP) mailed to Chicago Lockbox
03/29/2012 (Day 1) - Package delivered to Chicago Lockbox, confirmation received.
04/02/2012 (Day 5) - emails/texts NOA 1 x 4
04/03/2012 (Day 6) - checks cashed
04/10/2012 (Day 13) - Notice for biometrics app. May 2, 2012
04/12/2012 (Day 15) - NOA 1 hard copies received x 4
04/17/2012 (Day 20) - Email for RFE received
05/02/2012 (Day 33) - Biometrics done
05/03/2012 (Day 34) - RFE response sent
05/11/2012 (Day 42) - RFE received by USCIS

Thanks, I know this information and have visited the website prior to posting this question. I have the form all filled out and ready to go. The reason why I prefer to mail and not go is because I am in clinicals in med school right now and have no time to stand in line for 4 hours since I am not really allowed to take time off. However if you guys tell me walking in gives me an advantage of a few weeks or months, I shall most certainly try to negotiate some schedule change with my preceptor.

Poop, I failed to read the rest of the sentence after 12 years :P .... thanks a bunch hypnos. Going there tomorrow, hopefully I stumble across an officer that knows what to d0.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.
