yes, they say we have not known each other long enough.

In itself, that cannot justify a denial.

So he received a 221g stating that the case will be sent back to USCIS ? If so, you will have a chance to appeal and present further evidence of your relationship. Others have faced a similar situation, and managed to overcome all obstacles.

But what was the exact wording on the 221g ?

We have returned you application and petition to the Department of Homeland Security's Citizenship and Immigratino services. Any further inquires to your application and petition can be directed to their attention and the CIS office. They asked him question for over an hour and they told him that we have not known each other long and how does he know that I wear hijab. I am not sure I called they will not answer and the few that do not help you.

I wonder what the significance of hijab was? Maybe since it was an arranged marriage the officer was looking for outward signs that you are a practicing Muslim and this is how you would marry. It may be something to think about when you prepare your proof.

Yes, his cousin introduced them and also that they "agreed to get married after a few days". Even that wording sounds strange to me. Hicham and I didn't "agree" to get married... we fell in love and he proposed to me... anyways good luck Private.

I am still wondering how long you had known eachother before deciding to get married?

Perhaps she's upset and not really in the mood to be ripped to shreds about her personal decisions today. :star:

Who is ripping her to shreds? I told her I am sorry and I hope she can get this overturned. I also hope that her story will help others in the future and I'm sure she feels the same way.

I agree with Sarah, VP. Let's not overreact and turn this into something its not. Sarah is just trying to be helpful and pinpoint the reasons for the 221G.

Agree also. A denial is enough to send shivers of fear down all of us stil waiting for the interview. It's important to understand the details to help all of in this part of the process and help Private understand how she can turn this around.

I am not overreacting. It just happens to be the trend here that when people are down others jump into their kicking boots. Also, she is already scrutinizing her for 'agreeing' to get married in her profile or that they had only known each other a few days according to her profile so I could understand anyone being hesitant to answer such questions, especially when they're already down.

I just noted on your profile that his cousin introduced you. This would be considered a red flag.

How on earth would that be a red flag? That's quite common in Islam to get introduced to someone via family and agree to marry them. Isn't Morroco an Islamic country?

They consider it a red flag, I think, because their family could have paid you or made arrangements with you just so you'd bring their family to America.

Right. In this case the wali hooked her up with his own family member, and one who is not from the United States. Immigration will want to know if this was done for an immigration benefit because in their eyes, a Muslim husband could be found here.

Also, the consulate may have addressed the one issue of length of relationship. It does't mean others won't be addressed when the petition is returned.

She is not scrutinizing her and I don't even see how you came to that conclusion. Sending her well wishes is not going to get her husband here and that is ultimatly what she wants. She doesnt have to answer anything if she doesnt want to but she can read all of our input and proceed from there. No one has kicked her or said anything bad. The information that Sarah posed was not private, it was on her profile and could have led to the denial.

As far as I know Erica and Yassin are both Muslim and the only difference is that she is not of an Arab origin. The belief system is the same with only cultural differences, so with that in mind shouldn’t the consulate look closely at all the aspects when examining all of the potential red flags. I thought that it is common for Muslims to be introduced by family member so I think that this would not be a problem in their case.

It breaks my heart when a denial comes along, when bad things happen to good people and when one is not sure 100% of what went wrong…

Very good question. It sounds like he was interviewed (grilled) for a long time (a hour as opposed to the normal 15 minutes). Perhaps the consulate officer kept pressuring him. He offered information that she wears hijab, she is muslim- trying to show reason to adress the red flags. Thus his flippant comment "how would you know if she wears hijab." (speculating only)

It's making me think even more carefully how to address issues in the interview and what evidence to send along.

I'm just sorry we have to learn from those here who have to leave this terrible situation. Good to know there are otheres here who survived it incase the worse case scenario happens to me.

I'm so sorry to hear about the denial. I hope you will listen to the others and start contacting your congressman and trying to speak to someone at the consulate.

In addition, you may want to start getting letters, photos, and affidavits together to supplement your original packet. If they see different pictures of you in hijab, and you can have an affidavit from a friend or co-worker who sees you daily in hijab, that should refute their comment about the hijab. In addition, if there is anyone who has been with the two of you and seen you interact, it may be a plus to get a statement from them as well. Anything you can think of to show proof of your relationship would be a bonus.

Good luck, and we're all thinking of you and rooting for you!

VP- thanks so much for your concern for Private.

We all wish her the best and hope that she can get things turned around.

Even Private can tell you that before her interview she wanted to know all the details of people's interviews in Casa- especially if someone was denied so she could understand why and try to avoid the same problems.

We are all here to help eachother. No one is kicking her while she is down. We are trying to understand what happened and why this happened. She clearly stated in her profile they after a few days they agreed to get married. Maybe this is why the Officer in Casa felt the petition should be sent back, who knows but any knowledge can only help others in the future.

We wish her the best and once again VP thank you for your concern for Private and her fiance, we are all wishing them the very best in the future.

That's how I saw it. If that's not her intent that's great but I read it that way.

Also, if she's free not to answer any question, why has she already asked this one twice?

Take care!

The first statement has no baring on her case.

You only asked this question at the end two posts prior...

Yes, I can clearly see your concern.

I just commented that she might not feel like answering the question since she was being badgered about it.

This thread is about Private and understanding the process better for all of us. I'm askign the same questions as Sarah. We can't know how to help turn this around at the consulate level unless we ask questions. :ot2:
