We have received our NVC case number and the file is already at the consulate in Juarez. Just awaiting for them to mail out an appointment letter to my fiance. Can she start filling out the online forms DS-260, DS-156 now or does she have to wait for the letter? Thanks

congratulations. Every consulate requires different things therefore try and see what others have said from the same consulate. I have my appointment in cdj consulate for k1 and as far as I have educated myself in this forum yes you can go ahead and fill out the ds-260. call the nvc center and get the invoice #, benificiery #, and cdj number which will be needed when filling out the forms.

Since you went through the IR-1/CR-1 process, please make sure you're giving the correct information for those doing K-1s. The K-1 guide is great as a starting point, however, it doesn't -- and likely isn't meant to -- cover the various requirements once the petition is approved and heads to the DOS.

OP, once the petition reaches the embassy level, you should definitely double-check with your regional forum to ensure you're completing the correct documents needed for the interview stage. Good luck!

Part One: The K-1 Visa Journey:

USCIS Receipt of I-129F: January 24, 2012 | Petition Approval: June 15, 2012 (No RFEs)
Interview: October 24, 2012 - Review | Visa Delivered: October 31, 2012

Part Two: Entry and Adjusting Status:

POE: November 18, 2012 (at SFO) - Review
Wedding: December 1, 2012 | Social Security: New cards received on December 7, 2012.
AOS Package (I-485/I-765/I-131) NOA1: February 19, 2013 | Biometrics Appt.: March 18, 2013
AP/EAD Approved: April 29, 2013 | Card Received: May 6, 2013 | AOS Interview Appt.: May 16, 2013 - Approved Review Card Received: May 24, 2013

You are the one confused and giving out misleading information, again. For K-1 visas in Mexico, they most certainly do need to fill out the DS-260.

We have received our NVC case number and the file is already at the consulate in Juarez. Just awaiting for them to mail out an appointment letter to my fiance. Can she start filling out the online forms DS-260, DS-156 now or does she have to wait for the letter? Thanks

You need to get your CDJ case #, invoice # and beneficiary ID # from the NVC before you can fill out the DS-260: 603-334-0700

Juarez will send the USC and the beneficiary in Mexico a letter. Sometimes the letter does not reach the person in Mexico because of the crappy mail system there. If the only one that receives it is the USC, it can be mailed or scanned and emailed and printed out by the beneficiary in Mexico. It does not have to be the original.

The letter you receive points you to the sites where the instructions, forms and place to schedule your appointment and interview is. The letter is the only 'packet' you will receive. You should go to the links listed in the letter. The letter will be needed by the K-1 applicant at their ASC, medical and interview in Juarez, along with the confirmation page from the DS-260.

Here are the forms: http://ciudadjuarez.usconsulate.gov/fianceforms.html , instructions (very important to follow and they explain a lot): http://photos.state.gov/libraries/ciudadjuarez/231771/PDFs/packetk10412.pdf , and CDJ info: http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Mexico&cty=Juarez

thank you, i got the information from NVC and my fiancee filled out the DS-260, DS-156 online and printed out the confirmation number. another question I had. the consulate mailed out packet 3 on June 12.

1. does she need that letter to take to the ASC to do her biometrics?

2. is there anything on the letter that she needs to schedule the appointment and DHL courier information online?

Thank you again

She will need the letter CDJ sends you for her ASC, medical and interview.

Nothing on there that she needs to wait for. You just need to go to the site stated in the instructions I linked to above to schedule: http://mexico.usvisa-info.com

Hi i have a question about this, My fiance is also doing the DS-260, but is the beneficiary # really just the Invoice #, or is it something completely different? And also in the questions it asks who the petitioner is, but there is no option for fiance, just spouse, or self, what do we answer on that one? any help would be much appreciated. thanks~
