I am getting ready to send in my I-129F but have a few questions. According to the USCIS site it states to use black ink or type but doesn't really specify which color to use for signatures. I have done mine in black but after reading the RFE thread I am now thinking about redoing them and signing in blue ink. Any suggestions?

One other issue. I have my original divorce final judgement of dissolution of marriage but it was stamped with the judges name and date. Will I get a RFE if I send that or should I just try to get another with an actual signature. Thanks in advance....Gary

Lawyers and financial people have you sign in blue ink becuase blue WAS harder to copy making identifying a copy from the original easier. As long as it is an original signature and looks like a real signature I would not worry about blue verses black. I signed most in black and had no problems as I have black more readily available after red and green  .

Depends on who is looking at your petition. You can send in the application and request another divorce decree with the signature if you get an RFE. If you don't your time ahead, if you do the hit will be a few weeks--your call.

In the future if it is a concern, make certain to sign in blue.

Thanks a lot for the explanation. I have a week or so before I get her documents in the mail so I do have time to redo a few things just to be safe. I will also call the county court house Monday and see if there is much hassle getting the judges signature.

stamped signatures are REALLY common. I really wouldn't worry about it but it doesn't hurt to ask if its possible.

Also, I always sign in blue. People have been RFE'd for "originals" and buying a blue pen to sign with was so easy :)

My final dissolution was not "signed", but was official court document with seal. (only sent photo copy of this)... no problems for me. Some consulates require this original document at your fiancee interview.

Either black or blue works. We signed ours in blue because we wanted to make sure they stood out as original signatures. No matter which color you use, you could also sign them on something softer, like on top of magazines. This will make more of an indent in the paper as you sign, showing it is definitely an original signature and not a copy.

can you fill-up the forms handwritten in blue pen?

No. You should type or fill the forms by hand with black ink.

Does this final judgement of dissolution have the state or county raised seal on it? If not, I don't believe what you have is the actual "divorce decree", that is required, it may just be the final ruling of the court. I have the final ruling of the court that sounds like what you described, but I also have the divorce decree issued by the state with the raised seal on it, that's what USCIS will want to see.

NO raised seal, just the judges' signature stamp with the date. I was told that this "final ruling" was all that I would recieve. Guess I better call the county clerks office. edited....I was just told that in my county what I recieved at the courthouse the day of my divorce was all I would get but I could purchase another with the jugges' actual signature. Guess I will go do that just in case to avoid a RFE

Most states are not giving out the divorce decrees for free anymore, that's why you were told that the final ruling would be all that you receive. You will more than likely need to go to the probate court or other county building that stores these records and get a certified copy of the divorce decree with the raised seal, mine cost $20.
