It is food for thought that only 13% of green cards are issued to highly skilled workers.

Yes, but I might point out that the other people who get green cards might be highly skilled... it's just that they didn't get it through that category.

Excellent point.

Either way, I do like Australia and Canada's point system far better than the DV visas, and near unobtainable skilled worker visas.

the whole business visa system is a joke.

1. it is not getting the intend workers

2. its premium processing is competing with family visa.

i think our economy need to train our workers before hiring outside.

owell.. a systematic strangulation. i applaud.

Training our workers takes long time, it does not happen over night. It would require change in attitude, thought and change in culture.

Most of the high schools are still struggling with reading, writing and Math scores, lot of ppl dont want kids to be tested, dont want to measure teachers performance etc.

Same time from political perspective, neither party cares about skilled immigrant (H1B) as they have no voting right does not impact the outcome of political parties.

i've known the math and science issue for quite a while. people get most of their math and science from college than high school. high schools have less funding than college. schools that do poorly does not receive additional support but gets punished by reducing funds. school that really need help cannot get any real support without showing better performance. the poor get poorer and smart get smarter.

in the end, more systematic strangulation for the american workforce.

I completely don't agree with you on idea of smarter getting smarter and schools not fareing well getting punished.

First and main thing that needs to change is student need to respect their teachers and their teachers need to look after the student as their own kids.

Math and Science just does not come from the college... most kids are already afraid or have dis liking towards math and science that when they are in college they want to go for the degree which has the least math and science.

Lot of the time you see parents of kids complaining and whining about their kids were shamed in front of the class, yes they were coz they did not do their home work or assignment they were supposed to do and those parents are equally responsible as the kid who do not put time to make sure their kids did their assignement.

Instead we see they make a media circus making ppl believe that their kid is perfect kid and it was teacher who is bad.

Anyway the point the workforce cannot be changed over night, also as I mentioned most politicians don't care about attracting skilled labour force as most of these on H1 have no voting right.

Istead they would be more interested in allowing illegals to change the status to some form of legal status so one day they would be able to vote for these politicans.
