Ok guys since I have lost my job and have no other inocme, I think I need to have a co-sponsor for the form I-134. What do I and my co-sponsor need to do here? I have filled out the I-134, have a statment from my bank verifying my account which I have about $30,000 in savings and I have the last 3 years of tax return transcripts. I dont have any dependents. What my co-sponsor would need to have? What some of you mean by joint sponsorship? By the way, I have filed for K1 visa. Please need your help. Thanks

If your consulate accepts co-sponsors, the co-sponsor will need to have enough income to meet the 125% requirement for their household size plus the beneficiary. They need to fill out their own separate I-134 and provide a letter from their employer, a few months recent pay stubs, 2011 tax transcript, and proof of being a USC or LPR.

My co-sponsor owns a business. She makes more than enough. Okay so you said she needs... fill out I-134, proof of citizenship, but if she is her own boss, how can she provide employement letter and paystubs? Does she have to provide bank account verification and letter from her bank?

Sorry for your loss of employment, but are you going to be getting unemployment? Double check it still might be enough. Hope all works out for you!

Thanks for your sympthy. Do you think if I fill for unemployement would this be acceptable by the consulate or governement? Wouldn't this disqaulify my fiancee for having a visa since I will be on welfare?

She doesn't. For self-employed they will use the income from line 22 of her 2011 1040 then. She should provide a complete copy of her tax return, including the 1040, all schedules, pages and attachments, etc. An exact replica of what would be sent to the IRS when filing. If she wishes to use bank statements to show her income deposits, she can, but like I said, they will use line 22 of her 1040 to base her qualifying for the 125% requirement on.

Unemployment is not welfare. You are the USC and paid into the system and are allowed to seek unemployment benefits. It will not affect your fiancee at all.

Thanks. Could she use IRS tax return transcripts instead of sending all the originals? Also could she send copies of all the doc she has send to IRS for her income tax? Please let me know if the IRS transcript is sufficient.

Oh, I really didn't know this. I thought if I use unemployment benefits then my fiancee visa will be denied. But, I do need to indicate that in my I-134 form, right?

Also, I have about $30,000 in savings, will be qaulified for unemployment compensation? When I have $30,000 in savings isn't it enough if I be the sole sponsor or not? I just want to be in the safe side and leave no room for denial. I miss my fiancee like crazy and can't wait to see her. :crying:

I have to disagree. Unemployment Compensation is a temporary source of Income. (no it's not Welfare.) But, Unemployment shows instability as Income. Agree?

I have seen in the past Members stating they were Approved on Unemployment Benefits but they also stated: They had OVER 3 times the Poverty Amount in Savings/Checking etc. The OP has $30,000.00 Not enough! Agree?

What the CO and USCIS will look for is that the relationship NOT become a public charge. I agree the OP needs a Sponsor but to say: Unemployment is a gift and you earned it is partially true but not in it's entirety with USCIS. It's not a job.

So you mean, individuals have been approved even being unemployed? I do agree it is a temporary source of income, but do you think having an co-sponsor will help? Also you mentioned that the $30,000 is not enough? What is a good and acceptable amount to have if any? Please carify your above message. Thanks

Absolutely a Co-Sponsor would help even if you did'nt need one. $30.000.00 in savings is not enough. You would need to show 3 times the limits for 2 would be approximate $58,000.00 in Savings/Checking/Assets. I know the Economy is rough. A job that pays $12.00 to $13.00 per hour Full-Time is enough to be a Primary Sponsor. (For 2).

Thank you. I will get a co-sponsor. Oh, does it have to be a co-sponsor or a joint sponor if there is any difference? Please read my first couple posts and please answer to some of those questions. I was wondering if it is okay my co-sponsor povides tax transcripts and not the originals? What else does she need to have? She owns her own business.

If you are receiving unemployment when you fill out your I-134, then you can list it. She will not be denied because you are getting unemployment.

:crying:

You need assets worth 3 times the shortcoming in income. So, you need at least $56,736 (3 x 18,912). You need the co-sponsor even if you get unemployment.

You disagree that unemployment is not welfare, then say 'no it's not welfare'. You need to make up your mind. I never told the OP not use a co-sponsor. I told them to go ahead and apply for their unemployment benefits. Nowhere did anyone state unemployment was a job. Please do not make up things just to post a disagreement with. It is not helpful and can cause confusion and derails the thread. If the OP is entitled to receive unemployment benefits, then he should apply for them. It is not welfare, and his fiancee will not be denied because he collects his unemployment benefits. That is all that I stated and it is true.

Yes, you still need a co-sponsor of course. Unemployment is only temporary and as I posted above, you are lacking in savings. I already told you what your co-sponsor needed, IRS tax return transcripts or a complete copy of their tax return plus proof of being a USC or LPR(copy of US birth certificate, naturalization, bio page of US passport or front and back copy of green card). If it will help prove they meet the income requirements for their household size plus your fiancee, then they can send the last 3 years of tax transcripts instead of just 2011. It can be helpful and might be best for someone that is self-employed and has a more complex tax return to send the complete tax return for 2011 instead of just the IRS transcript though. Make sure line 22 of their 1040 lists enough income for them to qualify as your co-sponsor.
