okay, posted in a regional site too, but on the off chance it gets seen in here too, please let me know how to contact a suicide helpline in bucharest. An online friend is suicidal and calling the police when they don't speak english didn't help me. I contacted her school by email, and some of her friends, but it's the middle of the night. Hoping someone here can help.

What's really offputting is that there really seems to be no way to help her. We can't get through to the police, they aren't even returning emails. My friend contacted his church and they plan to find her through her's in Romania, but the fact that we cant even do anything is so frustrating. I really think that it's out of our hands, as we have no way to even report it. Well wishes appreciated, but I wish someone had been able to offer another suggestion. :(

plz consider all the facts

Obviously the OP is worried enough to ask for help. So whether or not it's a cry for attention doesn't concern you.

I hope this doesn't come to pass again, but if it does, consider being the help line next time. . That's what friends are for...

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

OP: if you can't find a helpline... talk to her. Be the ears she needs.

And what is the reason for her current obsession? If it's environment, make sure she is removed from the area. And also, tell the people around her to NEVER leave her on her own.

This woman has issues. I do not have any way to contact her family, and her as well now. I tried emailing all of her friends and her school and the police department, we tried phoning them, as was already stated. To the person who said to try helping her.... really? you think that I'm not trying? It's rather difficult and in failing, I'm reaching out to see if perhaps SOMEONE here might be from Romania and have access to a phone book that I don't and be able to provide me with a number that MIGHT be able to actually help. I talked to several suicide hotlines, including the VA one, we've contacted red cross. Followed through on all suggestions we've been given but we're just grasping at nothing now.

What's going on now, is that she's said she's not going to do it, to hurt her family, but she's also no longer in contact with any of the people who I know, who might be able to make sure she really is safe. I'm worried that she's just pushed everyone away. Is it a cry for help? Possibly, it's possibly a cry for attention, I don't know, but working in health care, you learn to take certain things seriously. When a person has a plan, a timeline and is finishing up things before they go, it raises a ton of red flags. I'd rather take it seriously and find she changed her mind or really didn't mean it, than just ignore it.

The only help we've gotten so far is from the Catholic Church in New Zealand, believe it or not. Another friend who also can no longer contact this girl, has given her info to his church, who is going to try to find her in Bucharest through the churches there. If they do, they will make sure to contact her. It's all I can do now to sit and hope that something works, unless I come up with another way to help.

I know she was still alive yesterday, but haven't heard another thing about it since. If she goes, I wish her family peace.
