I-130 expiration ? AOS must be filed within certain timeframe after I-130 approval ?

Hi all, we had a very legeitimate reason to not being able to file our AOS for quite some time.

Our I-130 was approved on December 2nd, 2004.

Is there any expiration of an approved I-130 in terms of how soon after it is approved that you have to file your AOS ? Does the approved I-130 ever expire, so to speak ?

Within the next week or two maximum, we will be moving forward with filing AOS in Orlando, FL or consular filing in Montreal, Canada. (We have both options due to our K3 visa). We are just trying to make a final decision of whether to do the actual AOS here in Orlando or whether to do the filing in Montreal based on timeframes etc.

Here is exactly what the case status online shows when I punch in the approval notice recipt number:

You need to contact the NVC. Normally they send you a notice requesting action from you to keep the petition alive. I've read different validity periods, so I don't want to steer you wrong with what I 'think' about it. Contact NVC tomorrow and see what you can find out.
