When to buy plane tickets through K1 process

I'd say pay only for tickets for as much as you're willing to risk. Or just wait for approval. Having to change dates or cancel can be a pain in the rear, if not costly.

ROC mailed to USCIS -- June 10, 2011

ROC approved -- November 1, 2011

finally free of USCIS paperwork!

Looks like some decent prices. I just booked round trip from ATL to Cebu for around 1400 for late Sept. Not bad.

Which site did you use? I am buying 2 round trip tickets for me and Monreal for october tommorrow. I have looking at ASAP tickets and they are pretty darn cheap. Like 2,200 for both of us.

I checked several sites to confirm price then called Korean Air directly. It was about a hair under 1400 apiece. I probably could have found a little cheaper with another airline, but the Atlanta to Korea to Cebu flight on Korean Air is the fastest in the industry and goes straight to Cebu with only one stop. 23 hours. It is well worth the extra 200 or so per ticket.

Also I have a Korean Air Visa and I charge anything and everything I can and then pay for it at the end of the month. Once this trip is posted to my Skypass miles I will have more than enough miles for a free ticket, lounge upgrades etc etc. May even get lucky and be able to upgrade to business at the last second on the way over there.

St. Raphael Travel hooked us up at the last minute for $630 manila-SFO. If you look at their web site you can see the prices in full once you hit the details. You'll get an idea here of what to look for in pricing. Best of luck and wish you a long and happy marriage!!

Korean Air in my opinion is the best Airline on the earth! Planes are comfortable and the flight attendants boy (i wish they made a Korean Air Flight Attendant Calender!)I would buy that every year until i started to Rigor. I just bought my tickets for October through ASAP and choose to go with United. I am traveling from Tulsa to Houston. Houston to Hawaii. Hawaii to Guam. Guam to Manila. The lay overs are less than an hour and a half. Monreal's cousin just recently took the same flight and said that it pretty easy. I always flew from Chicago to Seoul and i just can't do it again. My dream is to fly business class on Korean Air with my own flight attendant! lol!

I was in a position to fly business last trip on KAL. Just a one time thing, I doubt I could ever do it again, especially now that I am married. It was just a once in a lifetime present to myself. Yes it was nice. More than anything the seat. Motorized foot rest. It lay down almost vertical. The stewardess ( I was single then Disclaimer ) were beyond smoking hot and so friendly. The best part was the seat. As far as the food and service, I was content just to have some water and watch movies. No one sat on my whole row. They actually put me in first on the leg to Cebu, because there was so few people.

This Sept it will be economy all the way. I am a big guy but my wife is tiny so hopefully that will offset each other. However the 14 hour leg scares me.

Tell me about the united flight ? How long are the longs. I would love to land every 6-7 hours and stretch for an hour.

Hello just wondering if anyone can share their experiences on buying the plane tickets for their fiance through the K1 visa process.

I have no idea when i should try and buy ours. It would be nice to get them 3 months in advance in order to get the lowest price but with all the waiting on approvals and everything it looks like i will have to purchase them a week after she gets her visa or something

Im planning to go there for a week then come back to the U.S with her. I also am thinking it would be better to get a round trip ticket for her as well just in case she has a change of heart. I heard its cheaper then a one way ticket anyways

lets wait for the approval!!!! yeeayyyyyyyyy

Back in '07 I took the gamble and got lucky. The way I remember it, I bought the tickets as soon as we had the interview date for 14 days following it. I landed in Manila a day before the interview, she got approved and we flew to Samar the next day. We paid for our hotel to keep the room while we were in Samar and left most of our luggage there. We flew back to Manila and waited at the hotel for the visa. After it arrived we went and got the CFO stamp. We had about 3 days to kill in Manila before our flight.

I'm not telling anyone to do it that way. I'm just explaining what we did. It could have turned out badly if there was a problem with the visa production, delivery, or approval.

I bought a one way ticket 30 days ahead of time when we scheduled the interview. It was a one way ticket, which was cheaper. Also I could change the date with a reasonable fee. I didn't even consider the possibility of a denial. It did get close to having to reschedule due to suddenly declared extra holidays in the Philippines but everything worked out.

hi! caryh my situation now is same as yours. My fiance already bought ticket 30 days before my interview on the 29th. I just want to ask what did your fiance answered in Q#18 in DS 157 "Have you made specific travel arrangements?"...if i answer yes will this affect my visa approval? Im really confuse now what to answer coz in the K1 packet there's a reminder not to make any travel arrangements until visa approval  thanks in advance... Good day!

Do not finalize arrangements for travel to the United States, dispose of properties, or resign from your job until a visa has been issued and delivered to you.

I'd just tell the truth. I don't think they can stop your visa because you bought a plane ticket....

Is this legit? I just want to confirm with another VJ'r. No offense Calibob. There are many fake travel agents in the PHL. I am just wondering. I am planning ahead :). How wonder much December tickets will cost? I hope it's not an arm and a leg. I still have a wedding to plan.
