Hello everyone,

We just had a baby last Dec.2016 and would like to report his birth at Phil.Embassy. Now his middle initial is different, we did not use my maiden name as my child's middle initial, should i put my maiden initial as his middle name on the form or not?And on the form there's no space for notary. Thank you so much for your response

Enter his legal name at birth, as it appears on his birth certificate.

Our daughter was born in the PI and we got her CRBA and US passport + her PH passport. If we have another kid and he/she was born in the US, we would report the birth to the PH embassy so they'll have a PH passport. It just feels more practical to do it close to their birth than later down the line if they decide to buy land or study back home. They can also just renounce their PH citizenship if they want to.

The standard in the Philippines is mother's maiden name is the child's middle name. In the US, it doesn't matter. My parents didn't use my mother's maiden name for my middle name on my California birth cert. However, when my dad went to register my birth at the Philippine Consulate, the staff said my middle name must be my mother's maiden name. So my middle name here in the US was moved to my first name so it's I have 2 first names on the Philippines report of birth. My middle name listed on my report of birth is then my mother's maiden name.

We registered the birth of my first born and we plan on registering the birth of my newborn. Since we plan on buying properties in the Philippines that our children would inherit, it just makes sense. Also, we sometimes spend several months at a time in the Philippines. Having dual citizenship means we don't have to deal with visa extensions there. Another reason you may want to get a Philippine passport is that Filipinos have visa free access to some countries US citizens don't have (for example Brazil).

I know you do not have to have a Philippine passport to stay long term and exit the Philippines if  you have with you your dual citizenship certificate and foreign visa.

But what about natural born dual citizens (born to a Filipino parent abroad) who are not issued dual citizenship certificates but only an NSO-certified report of birth certificate.  Is this NSO-certified report of birth certificate accepted like the dual citizenship certificate, in lieu of a Philippine passport, by the bureau of immigration during entry for long term stay (over a year) and can exit without a problem?

Thanks in advance.

May I suggest that you start  a new topic with your questions insteading hijacking an old topic.

Logic and common sense says the ROB certificate would provide proof of dual citizenship, but when did any government use either.   My gut says the PSA issued birth certificate, even if it is a ROB certificate would be proof.

Just the same I have never come across anyone in this situation.  Everyone I know that has dual citizen children take the time to get a Philippine passport for their dual citizen child .. removes any issues.

If you are going to be in the Phils for an extend time, stop by DFA and get the Philippine passport for your child, this is much easier and quicker than taking a trip to the Philippine consulate in the USA.
