I was born in the Philippines but left when I was very young, like 8 years old. I've been living in Australia my whole since then. Would I need a police certificate from both countries?

Hi Elle,

They only request police certificates of places you lived for more than 12 months since you were 16. And of course of the place you are living now. So if you left the Philippines when you were 8, you don´t need a police certificate from there.

It depends on how long the police certificate is valid for.. in the UK it is valid for 1 year, you should see how long it is valid for in your country. If it is valid for less than a year I would hold off until your application is at the NVC. If it is valid for a year then I would go ahead and apply now..

Good luck on the rest of your journey

I agree with Iquin....check with the US Consulate/Embassy in Australia.

In Brazil the certificates are also valid for a year.
