calling PHILIPPINES FROM USA... what to use

What am I missing as why not use Skype to Skype in the event you use Magic Jack (as I use to) and Vonage? They all take internet. I chat daily with my fiancee using skype but due to her usb internet being a bit slow we use cam to cam on YM. YM does not come in as plain as Skype on verbal... I can print our conversation on both. Which I need to start doing again... Thanks for the post as you reminded me lol. I know in penney talk you can call phone to phone so if this is what you want then that may be your best option.

Because unless you both have skype or nimbuzz on your cell phones or buy skype credit to call a cell phone it is needed for both to be on the pc to communicate from skype to skype for free while with Magic Jack (for 20 a year) or Google voice (for free) she is the only one who really needs to be attached to the pc she can call your cell phone anytime u r the one who dont need to be at home or close to the pc like if it was from cell to cell, but obviously she is doing it from her pc. It saves a lot $$, and just by arranging the right time to call each other. Really worth it!!!

Vonage is phone to phone but YOU need the internet. They offer a smart phone plug in/app that allows you to call cell to cell/land line in the Phils. without using the landline. They can't call you though at the 9c price is the downfall. You can get a detailed download on your monthly bill showing the numbers, times, lengths etc of the calls. I tried magic jack, ooma (blocked by globe internet people and eventually the unit was fried by lightning) , and skype and vonage is the best all around for us. Individual results or choices may differ though. We leave our computer on at home all the time. If family needs us and we're home, they just call on skype for free or leave a message on our chat.

To take a screen shot with windows is hold control button and press print screen button at same time while the page you want copied is up and on the screen, then open a word processing document then right click mouse and click on paste.?

I think this is the procedure , I am computer challenged sometimes........

do you guys have some info that you might want to share, i need a service or plan or whatever you call it to use to call back to philippines and show's record and number of who you call.. thanks..

We always used Skype, Yahoo and FB. I think I called once or twice if for some reason she was not near a computer. They are all free and you can cut and paste a few lines of chat every week or so wich is way more than enough for evidence purpsoes.

Now if you both don't have internet that is a whole different story.

My wife and I used Skype daily during the "long wait" and I did screen captures showing us both on the screen as we rarely typed anything. Plus they do keep a log, but I thought the photos would be cool.

when I was still in the Philippines, i use GLOBE IDD. You ask your fiance in the philippines if she has a globe number. Globe has a promo now, call US number unlimited for i think around 1799 Php. You give your fiance a missed call signalling she call you back so you wont be charge international call.

You can print/highlight the incoming calls from the philippines in your phone bill as your evidence of ongoing relationship.

Your fiance can register her number in Globe website then print it. This will prove that the number that calls you is from her.

Goodluck!

We used that Globe tipid IDD card before until we found out about the Globe SuperIDD 1999. Its unlimited call for 30 days. Like Philwithlove, my Fiance will just give me a miss call then i will just call him back.. :) so we can talk anytime anywhere, almost 10x everyday.. we got tired of waiting to go online and sit in front of the PC for hours.

Don't need to hold control, but on laptops you may have to hold an "fn" key, and then hit a "F" number key at the top of the keyboard. Ctrl print screen will work, but ctrl is unnecessary.

*Print Screen button

*Open editor of some type

*Ctrl-V (Paste)

and that is it :P

We used Skype and Rebtel. Rebtel you can set-up using any phone in the US and it gives you a local number to dial in the US. It is a pre-pay plan and worked pretty good throughout the whole time. We even use it here in italy to call the PI.

That's what we did too. We had a nice list of conversations and then screen shots to show us talking. These were all in the big notebook of stuff that was ignored at the interview.

It's much easier and cheaper to have the Philippines call you if they have an android or iphone and any wifi connection.

Buy a Nettalk Duo at walmart or online for about $50.00, after it has been set up here the person in the Philippines downloads a Nettalk App for their phone. You give them the user name and password to register the phone and now they can call any number in the US or Canada using wifi for free. (except for the $30.00 a year you pay for the subscription)

Or you can register the device here and send it to then and they plug into their internet connection and you can call them when you like...

Yup... ignored is the right word, they asked to see NONE of the chat stuff, only photos they looked at were from our visit the year before as we didn't add new photos.
